Frieda Hull is the woman at the bottom left of the picture. She was part of the Monroe Six, a group of fans who followed Marilyn from place to place. Frieda also took the six famous coloured pictures of Monroe’s baby bump Hull she called the “pregnant slides”.
In this picture, Marilyn is boarding a plane for Hollywood at Idlewild Airport in New York on February 25, 1956.
Marilyn Monroe by Frieda Hull (a member of “The Monroe Six”, a group of young fans that MM befriended who followed her around on her daily adventures in Manhattan). This photo was taken on the day Marilyn filmed hair and costume tests for The Misfits on July 8th, 1960 in NYC. It has been erroneously suggested by tabloid media that Marilyn was pregnant with her Let’s Make Love co-star Yves Montand’s baby when this photo was taken, which has been strongly disproven. Marilyn’s last pregnancy (and subsequent miscarriage) was with her third (and final) husband, playwright Arthur Miller, in 1958. Plagued all of her adult life with gynecological issues, MM suffered from ectopic pregnancies and had a difficult time getting pregnant and was never able to carry a baby past the second trimester, experiencing three tragic miscarriages during her marriage to Miller (the second one, on August 4th, 1957, being her lengthiest pregnancy and one that caused her tremendous grief for the rest of her life). She was, however, very full-figured from 1958 until mid-1961, at which point she lost a great deal of weight following an emotional breakdown and gall bladder surgery. She remained slim for the brief length of time that remained before her sad passing during the night of August 4th-5th, 1962. (It warrants mentioning that Arthur Miller was due to become a father with his third wife, photographer Inge Morath, in September of 1962, which Marilyn was aware of prior to her passing and which those within her inner-circle at the end of her life have suggested---among other reasons---as a possible catalyst for her final bout of melancholia. Miller’s daughter Rebecca was born on September 15th, 1962 and is currently married to actor Daniel Day-Lewis.)
