friemoir: once, not too long ago, an irresponsible friend of mine was informed that his uncle's rather large home would be vacant for several weeks whilst vacationing. after a mob of ill intentioned youths had spent about a week in that house, drinking thousands of dollars worth of alcohol from their private reserve, the boy's grandfather arrived to do the weekly maintenance on the garden. after calling, he didn't wait for the cops to arrive before rushing in to frighten away all the squatters. everyone fled the home, and when my friend saw the cops coming he jumped into his mustang. another friend was trying to ride his bike away from the home and decided his chances of escaping would be better if he, too, were in the mustang. the grandfather leapt into his car and chased the drunken duo down the highway in a high speed chase, followed closely by the police. fortunately for everyone involved, the mustang ran out of gas after a few miles. the grandfather was fined for reckless driving. my friend, the driver, was let off because his uncle didn't want to press charges. the police determined that he wouldn't have been driving if he weren't provoked and chased by the grandfather, and since he was drinking in a family home, there was no crime committed. his passenger, however, was charged with a dui for riding his bike.
