It was embarrassing how much he looked at him.

Álex wasn’t supposed to be here, not supposed to be among people he didn’t know in a crowded bar on an Earth he didn’t felt like he belonged on half of the time. He gripped the glass in his hand so hard he was shocked he didn’t hear the sounds of cracks beginning to form, too many people around him stuffed like sardines in a crushed tin box twisting about without a care in the world.

He didn’t know how Luca dealt with all of this, or why he decided to do to the ends of the Earth to impress a guy he was sure wouldn’t even give him the time of day if he asked. The lights beamed upon him as if he was an angel, the perfect white of his teeth glaring back at him as he looked. Álex could feel his collar getting too tight, the polo shirt starting to scratch and writhe on his skin, and the grip just got tighter and tighter. It would be a miracle if he got out of this club without broken glass lodged in his hand.

“Álex? Álex?” he vaguely heard, too out of it to recognize the voice calling out for him. He could feel a hand settle on his shoulder, the light grip bringing him back to reality, back to the universe where Luca didn’t feel the flame of desire about to burn Álex whole. He turned around and saw who was trying to speak to him, eyes going wide when he saw Luca smiling at him.

“Hey, I know is this very forward, but do you think we could talk? My bike is outside, we could go anywhere you want.” he said, winking at him. Luca tossed the keys around in his hands, leather jacket halfway on and waiting for Álex to say something.

Maybe Luca would give him the time of day after all.
