These 10 Minute Eye of Newt Halloween Donuts are a fun and easy treat to make for your Halloween party or spooky celebration. The green color and 'eye of newt' design will add a creepy touch to your dessert table.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon. 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg. 2/3 cup milk. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1 large egg. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Green food coloring. Black decorating gel. Candy eyeballs.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 375F 190C and grease a donut pan. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Add a few drops of green food coloring to the batter and mix until you achieve your desired spooky green color. Fill each donut cavity in the pan about two-thirds full with the batter. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the donuts spring back when touched. Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once the donuts are cool, use black decorating gel to create 'eye of newt' designs on the top of each donut. Place a candy eyeball in the center of each 'eye of newt.' Let the decorating gel set, and your Halloween donuts are ready to spook and delight!
