Cortexiphan was a highly experimental drug. William theorized that it might enhance certain abilities in predisposed children. [...] It worked on perception. Carlos Castaneda, Aldus Huxley, Werner Heisenberg, all focused on one single elementary truth. Perception is the key to transformation. Reality is both subjective and malleable. If you can dream a better world, you can make a better world. [...] So if Nick Lane was treated with Cortexiphan, he could change reality with his thoughts. He could make somebody do something just by thinking it. Not his thoughts. It’s how you feel that determines your view of the world. [...] What if Nick Lane... wasn't affecting people with his thoughts? What if he was affecting them with his emotions?
Fringe S01E17 "Bad Dreams"
Doesn't matter if you find Jones or not. He's just a part of 'the army'. What was written will come to pass - and nothing you do can stop that. Nothing.
Fringe S01E14 “Ability”
The first episode of the first season of Fringe aired 10 years ago today
I believe we may be dealing with a transgenic species. Which is what? It's an animal creation. Um, an organism made up of the genes of multiple species. The best of the best, as it were. You're saying that you think the creature is man-made? Accelerated Darwinism. Is that even possible? In theory, yes. Although one would have to solve many problems -- incompatible species, massive mutual rejection, similar to when a transplant recipient rejects a donor organ. And there's a reason for that. Mixing a bunch of species to create a franken-rhino is unnatural. And a really bad idea.
Fringe S01E16 "Unleashed"
The boy... our strange, little friend... is an empath. [...] he's capable of making connections... emotional connections. Uh, to a construction worker who found him, the killer, but most importantly, he is emotionally bonded to you, Agent Dunham. That's why he's telling you about the crimes. Because he knows that the information is important to you. He's trying to help you.
