circe chuckled as she bent over her garden, carefully snipping blooming catnip and placing it in the basket next to her. the witch was unbothered by the bees that moved about her garden, by the spiders in their webs, the toads that croaked in the wet earth. “i do,” she said, as she worked. “if you allow yourself to be bothered by the talk of men, you’ll find yourself unable to do much in life. do not let the opinions of others become chains all their own.”

circe sighed reaching up to rub her temples, they ached. the longer she lived the more and more she felt as though mortality was a blessing and mortals never even realized it. holding the phone a little tighter she sighed -- again -- before asking, “how do you not know if you’ve been an accessory to a crime.”

             Thalia just sighs. Honestly, why does she have to deal with this? Oh right, Hunters of Artemis, trying to live up to the legacy Zoë left her with. It was easier in theory. She waves her head so two of the hunters go to see if they can help said mostly dead person as she approaches the person who spoke. 

          ❝ So, you wanna tell me the story behind this? What monster attacked and how are you without a scratch? ❞  Some monsters can turn human so Thalia keeps an healthy distance. She has her bow and arrows, her hunting knives and still carries Aegis at her wrist ready to be activated. She probably could drop the shield but she doesn’t think she can bring herself to do it. For every bad memory there’s another good one, a part of her identity, a part of the person she was before joining the Hunters, so for now she’s holding on.

             Persephone smiles. She’s still not used to people not recognizing her. The centuries and millennia have passed and people stopped believing but she never stopped coming and going and caring, she never stopped helping humans, both the dead and the living.  ❝ I like to think they’re not. The reason humans fear death is cause they’ve never been there, they fear the unknown. I like to think that whenever Persephone is back amongst the living she is reassuring to the living, that they sense the part of her that reminds them of her mother Demeter and realise that death isn’t a big unknown. It’s familiar and everyone they love is safe in her arms and she’ll go back down with all their messages. Love carries through, it’s one of the few things that can travel freely from the living to the dead. ❞

             Not the goddess of love, not trying to steal Aphrodite’s spotlight but… If there’s one thing she believes in it’s love and she thinks Aphrodite won’t mind still having her as one of her followers. Why would she not believe in the goddess that threw her into the underworld for the first time and helped her find the love in heart, the one that allows her to care for humans.
