I think part of my thing with show Gabrielle is that theyre still pretending. And in the book human Gabrielle played the part they were supposed to cause it was the only way they could be but being a vampire gave them to power to not have to pretend anymore and they only relent somewhat cause of lestat but show Gabrielle feels like theyre still pretending, especially choosing to go by Sofia

I understand the instinct to bring Gabrielle back to their Italian origins, but lioncourt is also LESTAT's name and theres no reason for them not to go by lestat's name
