Here are my marvelous descriptions of the frog calls of Maryland:
Eastern Spadefoot: ERRRRRR ERRRRR ERRRRR
American Toad: Long shrill call
Fowlers Toad: murder unpleasant
Cricket: Marbles being rattled together
Copes Gray Treefrog: shorter less musical call,
Gray Treefrog: monkey, longer more musical than copes, like the noise you make with throat gargle but more shrill
Green Treefrog: geese, fucking annoying
Barking Treefrog: short, bark
Spring Peeper: sounds like a peeper, peep peep peep, all together sounds like what you would usually hear in summer
NJ chorus frog: running fingers down metal cone
Narrow mouth: fucking silence of the lambs, baaaaa what nightmares are made out of
Bullfrog: lightsaber woom wooom woooam wo
Green frog: plucking a banjo bler bler bler, loose strings
Pickerel: snoring, long drawn out
Southern Leopard: maniacal laughter, legitimately frightening, clicking sound together
Wood: oh no I don’t like this one either, drowning ducks? Goats, pain
Carpenter: galloping, carpenter like hammer nailing and shhit
