Free toad pattern! It’s upside down and beneath the read more. Tumblr won’t let me turn it right side up, but hey! Free pattern! And since you have to print it out anyway, upside down shouldn’t matter much? (sorry)
I did not make enough notes while sewing this, so these instructions are approximate. For all seams leave 1/4″ seam allowance when sewing except the eyes. Seam allowances are already included in the pattern pieces. This should print on one normal sized sheet of paper. The narrow end of the body is the head. -Cut out four of each leg, put pairs of the same legs (front or back) together with right sides facing each other and sew around curved edge. Turn right side out, put some stuffing in, and gather the top (straight) edge. - Cut out two body pieces, put right sides together, and sew around the edges, leaving the space at the front of the head open for turning. Turn right side out. Stuff with stuffing, poly-fill beads, or whatever you want. Hand sew the last bit; it’s okay if it’s not straight, that just gives the toad its grumpy expression. -Use ladder stitch to sew legs to bottom of toad. Cut out black felt and figure out placement on top of head (move them around until you like the look). Sew the eyes on. If you want, sew from one eye through the head to the other eye and back, then pull on the thread to change the head shape a bit. If you want to, sew on small scraps of fabric as eyelids. That’s another step with no specific instructions, just experiment! All toads are great, with or without eyelids or head shaping. Please tag me in your finished toads, I’d love to see them!
