Happy Belated Birthday Alven! ( @froglesbi / @coolrpblog )
jackie wishes you an amazing rest of the month evan!
ahh!!! i love jackie!!!!!!!! thank u so much
what types of clay do you use? last night i went though my tool box for apoxie sculpt that i hadn't opened for almost 10 years now and somehow its still usable though the hardening compound was a bit off a bit and more stiff (still got it to work on what i needed it for)
along with that which do you think works better and is stronger? oven bake clay or air dry clay?
I always use Super Sculpey for all of my stuff. Im not 100% sure but i thiiiiink Apoxie Sculpt is harder than that but i just absolutely hate using it unless its for very small things. Its too soft and sticky for me and you can’t let something sit for a few days and then work on it again :’) So i just love clay that you can oven bake. Air dry clay tends to crack and also doesn’t have endless working time. If i want to sculpt something very durable i started using Cosclay which is very similar to sculpey but is more flexible after baking so it absorbs shock better if you feel like throwing your stuff around.
But that’s really just my personal preference. I see people use all kinds of clay in amazing ways that i would never be able to work with. Best example is Monster Clay. It’s like one of the most often used professional super expert clays and i just... i hate working with it. Im sooo bad with it. But it’s not a bad clay obviously it’s just not for me.
🔥 art programs cause i'm curious on this
Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
As long as you can draw on it, there is no better art program than another. I think that each one has both its strengths and weaknesses, but I don't see the goal in pitting each one against each other. Whatever works for whatever artist, you know?
hey! i recently got sculpting stuff for christmas and wanted to ask on advice on how to start a project. mom got me sculpey iii which looks like it'll be fun to play with
NICE! I never worked with sculpey III so i don't know how hard or soft it is but i'm assuming it'll be on the softer side. Try to build a fairly stable-ish armature with wire and tinfoil especially if you do something with a lot of mass. Like if you make a Pikachu (just as an example haha) make sure the body and head are tinfoil so the clay dosn't crack when you bake it, and the ears need a wire so they stick up and don't snap off. And honestly... just have fun. The cool thing about this clay is that it doesn't dry so if you sculpt something and you're not happy you can just take the clay off again, move the armature around, sculpt on again, give it a day to brainstorm etc. I think that's so relaxing because you have no pressure or a timer going and can just go with the flow. And even after baking you can still sand it or cut pieces off to change things.
Just try to have fun and do shapes and try to not by super perfectionist!! And you'll see improvement super fast :D
i want you to know i enjoy seeing your works and wips on my dash and seeing shadow habby pop up every now and then makes me smile cause it looks so amazing and my brain keeps thinking its just a drawing instead of a figure
Aaah
Thank you so much that's incredibly kind!!!
