i was just looking at the tags on your other blog and thought "wowww, these sound so fun and whimsical..." and!! color me curious!! what inspired your username? and the naming conventions you use?

As you might remember, I used to go by 'random-gamer' here on main. It's a username I'd used for a good while at that point (probably somewhere around 7 years?). Another useful detail, I got the nickname 'rat' twice in two unrelated corners of the internet, both somewhere between 3 and 1,5 years ago
Funnily enough, the change actually has to do with YOU 🫵 (a little). It was a bit after I started following you that I realised having a seperate blog for art and stuff might be nice! Basically, I didn't like how much those posts got drowned out by reblogs, so when I saw your art blog (and remembered one from another mutual) I decided like, yes I want to do that!
So, to actually answer the question: I was basically struggling for a good username for my art account. I wanted it to be something unrelated to my old username though, (essentially just a new online username) so I just reused the "[adjective] [noun]" structure
Since 'rat' was already an established username for me, and my favourite bird (animal?) is the crow, I decided to do something with that. Combined with my tendency to overthink, we get 'the-pondering-vermin'!
Now, I did already have a tagging system here on my main, but it was kinda... bad. However! Things like 'void answers' and 'ranbles' did already get me into the habit of thinking of themed tags
Since I wanted this side blog to A) be very structured since I wanted to avoid clutter in particular, and B) have a cozy-ish vibe, or at least a theme, I decided to just sit down and think of a bunch of possible tags for different kinds of posts. Given the username, I decided to start using "[vermin/critter]'s [noun]" as the main structure, which is how we get things like "Rat's Squealing" and "Magpie's Sights"!
Then lastly, I started growing tired of my old username. 'Random-gamer' didn't really feel like me, not least of all because I barely game, but also due to the option of this new shiny username that I really quite liked! So instead, I changed main to 'the-pondering-vermin', and since I had already used the word in my pinned post, I changed my other acc to 'the-vermin-showroom'!
(Also related: I realised I didn't particularly like being called 'Random', 'Gamer', or 'Rat', which is why, aside from the nickname 'Ran', I wanted there to be no mention of those names in the username or pinned posts)
