Have a canon-ish drabble! (Or don’t, y'know, your call:).
Kira ran a hand through her dark hair, huffing in exasperation as she attempted to make sense of this Pre-Calc assignment that she’d missed due to her mom being in the hospital in Palo Alto. It had been nice to get away for a bit, but being away from everyone, even though she was with her mom, had put her on edge. She’d worried about all of her friends on the dead pool list, even Stiles who wasn’t on the list because who was to say he wouldn’t be used as some sort of bait? She wouldn’t put it past many people these days.
An alarmed shriek escaped her lips as she felt hands on her shoulders, whirling around in alarm, eyes wide, prepared to use anything she could to her advantage in what was surely the oncoming fight that was about to come-and closed her eyes as she saw Scott, palms up, backing a step away in a gesture of reassurance.
She shook her head and batted at his shoulder once with no real force behind it. “Why would you do that?” she asked, but her tone was more curious than annoyed.
“I thought you’d heard me come in. Your dad let me in, actually. You look-exhausted,” he observed, taking a step forward now that she’d calmed down.
“I am. I don’t like my mom being back here. I know she’s not on the dead pool, but she’s an easier target when she’s in a weakened state like this,” she said, sitting back down at her desk. “And this Pre-Calc assignment is kicking my butt nearly as well as the Berserker did,” she mumbled.
Scott took another step forward and began to gently massage her shoulders, the back of her neck, and then her back.
The ‘You’re the best.’ was pretty much implied as her eyes closed and she gradually felt her muscles getting less tense.
“I think it would be okay if you skipped out on one Pre-Calc assignment,” Scott informed her, leaning forward as his chin rested lightly on the top of her head, still trying to relieve her stress in any way he could.
“I’m beginning to think that, too. I’m so tired and it’s impossible to sleep in hospitals and-“ she ended the sentence to yawn.
“And no one should have to sleep in the chair,” he ended the sentence with a small smile as he pressed a brief kiss to the top of her head before spinning her chair around and offering her a hand up.
She took his with a smile, lacing their fingers together as she headed for her bed, sitting down on it and pulling her shoes off, tossing them carelessly to the floor. She then slid back on the bed, up to her inviting pillow. Her eyes landed on Scott once again. “Can you stay?” she inquired, trying to keep her voice from sounding too hopeful, knowing he probably had a million things to do.
“I can stay,” he told her, going over to the other side of the bed and laying on his side so they were face to face. Her eyelids were falling fast. “I hope you sleep good,” he told her, getting quite tired himself as he wrapped an arm around her and she leaned into the warmth and familiarity of it.
“Well,” she murmured, before she drifted off.
