Devon has really been great for the whole process. We have to totally flush the wound using a catheter that we slide up into the abscess and through the break and we push saline through it. Because there’s communication between her mouth and the abscess a lot of saliva, puss, and food comes out and it is naaaasty. But she just.. lets us.. I am so grateful for her understanding attitude about all of this. She really is so special. Now, we try out different wrap styles that might actually stay on her face..

This horse.

Countless radiographs, two month stall rest, two major surgeries, allowing us to put a catheter into the hole in her head to for flushing *without* drugs, wound wrapping, wet food, no hay, 80 oral pills per day, etc etc etc

She finally got some sun today, even geared up with her fresh wrap, sleazy, and grazing muzzle. She was so appreciative.

My heart was so full after being so sad. I cannot imagine how she must feel after all of this, and we are still only halfway there 😞

Does she look like a superhero in her outfit? Because she absolutely is
