CHENFORD SCENES: Season 4 Episode 12 “The Knock”
Canon tbh
no because literally @fromdusks is advocating for a man of color to not be the pseudo-son of two white characters and people freak out and meanwhile in another corner of the fucking internet where i am the same exact thing happens but with different hats and like. i think what’s so audacious to me is that people think they’re clever that when they’re infantilizing the man of color they’re doing it differently and not racist like all those other people like they’re aware enough of the world around them to know that they shouldn’t be doing it but somehow it’s our fault for calling it out, not theirs for like. not examining their own behavior. knowing ALs are on par with GTA V slash shippers in terms of addressing their own racism is truly magical to me and i wish everyone a blesséd week
@fromdusks Ask and ye shall receive!
Any theories/headcanons pertaining to the games/characters you have?
From GTA Themed Asks
A while back, I mentioned that I do a bit of roleplaying on Tumblr and Discord and posted a few headcanons I have for some of the characters! You can find that post here ! That aside, yeah- I have a metric fuckton of headcanons and ideas for the GTA characters! Here’s some more that I’ve come up with over time:
Andreas was formerly a Vagos. He ended up getting out of the life of gangs after he realized he didn’t want it for hismelf. He joined the FIB and left it all behind to try and make something of his life, and he will do anything to avoid going back to that life because if loses his job, he’s afraid the Vagos will find him and kill him. Even if that means selling out what his superiors are doing with Mr. Townely 👀
Niko (GTA IV) will start in English and then slowly go into Serbian when he’s going on a ramble and telling his stories for too long.
Franklin has depression. It’s hinted at often in the game that there’s something serious going on with him. His behavior goes on for months between the breakup, him wanting to sleep, him telling the others “I’m depressed enough as it is”, showing feelings of low self esteem and social withdrawal— Franklin isn’t just sad. He has something going on that he doesn’t know about.
Franklin tries to learn medical terms at some point to try and get Tanisha back. This is actually shown in removed dialogue where he talk specifically about certain aspect of anatomy and physiology. There’s also an in game line where he talks with Michael, saying “you’re more likely to experience a coronary even in the morning when the alcohol is leaving your system”. This implies that he probably is trying to get smarter to win his long-term girlfriend back. :,(
Trevor actually feels terrible about himself and masks it with angry outbursts and sporadic behaviors. Like we been knew but it becomes very clear once you make him huff gas. He says such emotional, sad, self-hating shit when he wakes up in different places after huffing gas and it’s frankly heartbreaking to listen to.
Michael was previously on drugs to help him quit drinking. According to him, the drugs had intense side effects like falling asleep during dinner and extreme insomnia. He had to stop taking them after a while and according to him, his drinking wasn’t as bad. It began really picking up again after the events of five went down. I believe that Michael is capable of weaning himself off of drinking again, as he’s not an alcoholic per se, but he is alcohol dependent. Same goes for smoking.
Lamar doesn’t like Michael because he’s lowkey jealous that Franklin is giving more attention to an old man he barely knows than the best friend he’s spent a lifetime with. He’s worried that Franklin’s gonna end up abandoning him and he does not hold back with that fear either. But instead of talking it out, he tends to convey that fear with aggressive responses, like telling Franklin he’s unreliable and calling him a traitor immediately after he rescues Lamar. Multiple times. He’s scared of losing the person that is basically his brother and he chooses to show that through aggression rather than talk it out like a civilized person.
Steve can be summarized by the one chandelier vine.
Steve, despite being a cocky loud mouth with no sense of humility and a massive ego, is incredibly gentle with his mom. He’s very humble and reserved and respectful around her, helps her out whenever she needs it, talks to her about work. He’s lowkey a mama’s boy, loves his mom a lot and lives with her because she’s chronically ill and needs help doing things, but he doesn’t want to leave her withanother caretaker because she raised him as a single mother and he lowkey feels like he owes her for all her efforts and everything she sacrificed to raise him.
Lester is none too shy about mentioning how socially awkward he was, and that most certainly implies he was bullied. This is further supported by his vengeful nature and aggressive disposition towards anyone considered “socially superior”. I bet he and Michael met during high school, where half the kids picked on Lester, and the other half paid him to do their homework bc he was the brainiac kid that aced every test, and Michael was one of the latter kids and saw how resourceful Lester could be and invited him to join the Heist Squad.
Like I said, this is only a handful of ideas. I’m always realizing new things with GTA and it always gives me great ideas for character interpretations. I hope you guys enjoy my takes on the lads too! Thanks for the ask, it was really fun to answer! :D
because listen there is nothing i miss more than being a massive bitch with @fromdusks and i will jump on the opportunity to do so again
what’s one of your favorite lines from any piece of fiction you’ve ever consumed, ever, and why is it “we were together. it wasn’t good.”
me realizing and saying to @dykerory that seth & kate are love that has to be fought for whereas richie & kate are love that is destined because they always come back to each other in the midst of everything and that's not me saying one is better than the other because there is also so much to discuss in a love that has to be hard-fought for and won and going through that for someone with someone but also like wow. do you ever just
