Lunch Ride with Richard • 7/1/18

Hadn’t had an opportunity to ride with Richard for quite a while, so doing a ride out to the Portola Valley Robert’s Market was just the ticket! It was great to get a chance to catch up. And, Robert’s makes a great turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce.

Monstercross’n the ‘Dog! • 5/31/18

The Water Dog trail pixies have redone the bridge over the creek! It looks pretty solid—much more so than the previous one that washed out last winter. Time will tell, but for the moment, wow!

Plus, this one too (though now I can’t remember exactly where it was, Ohlone Trail maybe?):

Did a loop around the perimeter, plus a quick loop around the lake.

First time with my new carbon Astral Wanderlust wheels, with Ritchey Shield 35c tires on them, at Water Dog. The wheels feel nice and light, and it climbs the punchy steep bits with more ease, but the tires I think are a bit too wimpy for the ‘dog. Need something with more volume and more bite, like the Wilderness Trail Bikes Resolute 42c tires that I had on the old wheels. Hmm.

Calistoga Single Speed Gravel Blasting • 12/26/17

Took the new bike with us up to Calistoga, in addition to the tandem. After we got checked-in, I took the opportunity to squeeze in a quick ride around town on the dirt and gravel that’s nearby. 

Calistoga has some cool, if short, gravelly bits, and they were super-fun to blast on this bike. I’m definitely happy with the feel of the titanium frame on the extra-chunky stuff. Had maybe too much pressure in the tires, though.

MTB: Technical Trail Tuneup • 2/6/18

With all the gravel biking lately, my mountain bike has been feeling lonely, and I was worried that my skills were atrophying, So, snuck in a quick after work / before dark ride at Waterdog. I should have brought the bike with me to work so I could’ve gone directly there after. I stopped at home first, and burned a lot of daylight there...

Road Bike: Friday Mixed Miles with Matt • 2/9/18

As we’re trying to get Matt back up to speed, we arranged to meet for a road ride at Cañada & Hwy 92. I rode to the start to be able to add some miles in the form of a little Waterdog dirt & Sheep Camp Trail gravel before and after. 

Another beautiful mid-summer’s, er, mid-winter’s day, with temps in the high 70s...maybe it hit 80? Looks like we’re in for another drought year, but on the plus side: biking in short sleeves in February! :-)

I didn’t have any afternoon clients, so figured I could just pull off a double-header, doing the Regular Evolution Trainers Wednesday Ride and then skeedadle and meet up with The Next Ride for my first of the summertime Wednesday after work Skeggs rides. It worked, but just about killed me. Perhaps today was not the day to add the Full Viscaino to the Evo ride. That sucker is steep!

Can’t Stop Migrating! Monday 'Dog with Corey • 5/15/17

After reconnecting with Corey at last weekend’s Ibis Mendocino Migration, I learned that he had some time on Monday starting mid-day before he had to return his rental car and head back home to Boston. Given that I was only scheduled to work in the morning, only one thought was possible: We must ride some more! So, I got Roger to loan him his ‘spare’ bike, and gave Corey a quick tour of some of my backyard trails at Waterdog Lake Park.
