I'll also take the presented opportunity here to speak much more generally because this has been mentioned quite frequently on individual polls, with occasional sentiment that this renders the polls sort of pointless because it's nearly always going to be yes. At the risk of explaining the joke, that's the joke!

There isn't really much to deliberate on for the vast majority of characters because Jester is apparently inviting basically everyone she's ever talked to, with only a few exceptions. The punchline of the blog is really more about illustrating what that actually looks like and about how funny that is once you start thinking about individual characters and looking at the guest list that results in.

It's about the comedy of remembering who "everyone Jester has ever met" actually looks like once you start attaching names to that, of the juxtaposition of those guests, and of the massive gaps in the percentages because, yeah, pretty much everyone is going to be yes because that's how Jester rolls.

Sorry I vanished, but things got very busy at work. I do essentially have a week left to run things here, and I did have one or two more invitation polls I did want to make sure I ran.

As I said before, I might post a couple of other little posts for discussion before the live show.

May I humbly request a "who?" option on the polls?

Unfortunately, I will not be introducing a "who?" option. The polls are designed to make a decision about whether someone will receive an invitation and, in the follow-ups, whether they will be there. "Who?" does not contribute toward a final decision, and should it be the winning answer, we will be left with no decisions at all.

Each poll must end in a collective but definitive decision — someone is invited or they are not, someone is in attendance or they are not — and the options reflect that. Imagine ourselves as Jester and Fjord, or the subject of the poll, making this decision.

If the name is unfamiliar, I encourage using Encyclopedia Exandria as a reminder for who they are and how Fjord and Jester may know or have heard of them. It doesn't always have a comprehensive article, unfortunately, but it is what it is. One can also look through the transcript search.

One can also decide that the unfamiliarity of the name suggests that they will not be invited on account of being too distant or irrelevant. Or, even, decide to abstain from weighing in on that particular poll.

I've been adding some light context to the tags of each poll for characters who might be a little more unfamiliar (most notably so far Jenna Iresor). To further help with the "who?", going forward, I can add more comprehensive context and additionally provide a link to the wiki article in the post for more obscure or minor characters.

Wedding Etiquette: Everything You Need To Know Before Casting Your Vote

Polls run for 24 hours. It is yes or no. They're invited, or they're not.

Initial polls are whether the character is invited, not whether they're attending. Vote according to whether you believe Jester and Fjord will invite them, not whether you personally would.

Follow-up polls on whether they will attend (or, if not invited, crash) are added as a reblog the evening after the poll closes.

Invitation polls post at 11:00am and 2:00pm ET. Attendance polls post at 5:00pm and 8:00pm.

Invitation polls are tagged #FjoresterWeddingGuests and follow-ups are tagged #FjoresterWeddingRSVPs to facilitate filtering.

Characters are people Fjord and Jester know, have heard of, or reasonably might know or have heard of. They must be reasonably capable of attending (not dead, not magically bound to the seafloor, not born into the world less than a year ago, so on).

No polls for characters who are definitely invited, like Marion or the Gentleman, or are already known or suggested to be, like Essek.

I may break these guidelines for comedy and my own amusement.

Feel free to elaborate on your reasons or on any nuances or other thoughts in the tags, as an addition, or in the replies.

Do not bash characters or be snide. This is not a place to be mean or nasty or to air your criticisms, personal feelings, or grievances. Participating does not give you license to be catty.

I will consider suggestions but reserve the right to ignore them. I will delete asks attempting to sway voters; you must campaign on the poll itself. Campaigns must be polite, in good sport, and not attack others.

Finally, this is ultimately a joke blog. Yes, Jester is likely to invite everyone she knows — that is the punchline. This is about the extreme range of that "everyone" and for fun.

Engage in good faith and with a sporting attitude! This is for fun.

Apologies for the missing poll today! I've been quite busy out in meatspace as they say and, as often stated in the tags of posts this week, I haven't had the time to re-fill the queue. We'll simply be one invitation poll short today and its follow-up tomorrow, but I'll get things back on track for these last couple of weeks.

I do admit I'm running out of characters, however. So, I may run some other little games in the meanwhile for everyone to submit commentary and speculation on toward the end. As always, feel free to submit characters for my consideration, though I do not guarantee I will create a poll for them.
