INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to share that I'm starting a new chapter by diving into fullstack web development. In just a couple weeks, I'll be embarking on courses to learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python and more...

As a stay-at-home mom of one, I'm thrilled for this opportunity to expand my skills. I've always loved learning new things, whether it's knitting, gardening, or coding. Now I get to take my self-education to the next level!

My goals are to stay focused, avoid burnout, and find a healthy balance between studying and family. I know there will be challenges ahead, but I'm determined to succeed.

I plan to document my coding journey here, share tips, and connect with others in the field. Web development has always fascinated me, and I can't wait to become part of this community. Wish me luck!

Perks of having your sister work at a cafe: free study space + discounted coffee

Today I'm catching up on some emailing, writing, and coding. And! Going bouldering later, the official sport of tech ppl lol.

Tomorrow we're starting a new course which will be about creative programming and I'm so excited! There's so much i want to do, especially since working with three.js.

It's nice feeling this motivated, cause honestly I've had a hard time coding as much as I want, and mental health is (as always) a struggle. I want to be as unfiltered as possible on here, because not every day is me checking off points on my to-do list and having a cute latte at a café, many days i just lay and decompose in bed lmao, but that's ok! Life is not all or nothing; just because i can't get out of bed one day, doesn't mean i can't get up and work the next one. I would show those days too, but i don't have any aesthetic pics from then, so you're just gonna have to believe me :p to anyone else struggling with mental health: we're in this together! (':

personal portfolio site v1 /ᐠ｡ꞈ｡ᐟ\

been working on my personal portfolio for a bit and while it's still got a long ways to go I wanted to share my progress ╰( ^o^)╮

decided to build this site using the astro.build web framework. so far I really enjoy the framework! I absolutely love the idea of reusable components which is why I was drawn towards reactjs, this allows you to do the same even with just plain vanilla js ₍ᐢ•ﻌ•ᐢ₎*:・ﾟ

My quest to become a better programmer has led to me learning JavaScript. I’ve used it a little in the past, implanting functions created by others within websites, and I’ve done a few little challenges (without really understanding what I was doing). And then two weeks ago I came across Free Code Camp. This is a site that teaches you full stack development through over 2000 hours worth of tutorials and challenges, before encouraging you to put those skills to good use by playing with data in an Open Source for Good Section.

FCC is completely free, which is pretty awesome. And if you complete a section, you can get a lovely certificate. According to their site, over six thousand developers have gotten their first job.

I am really enjoying the way it teaches you code, gradually introducing new ideas and testing you over and over. I tried some more advanced tutorials in the past, and while I understood what I was doing, I didn’t really get it, whereas with FCC I’m really getting the hang of it.

At the moment, I’m going through some Basic Algorithm Scripting challenges and I’m so happy with how well I’m doing. I’m not the cleanest or tidiest programmer yet, but I am managing to solve the problems, which is awesome.

So far over the last two weeks, I’ve completed 239 individual tasks and 75 hours of programming. It’s not taken me that long; I went over a lot of things I already knew in the HTML5, CSS, and Bootstrap sections. But if I continue to power through, I might be able to get the Front End Certificate by the end of September. I’ve been doing a couple of hours each evening, around my other work, so it’s looking good.

Life as of recently!!

I'm really enjoying backend stuff since my last two courses have basically just been figma prototyping, but I'm so happy to be back to coding. These weeks of figm-ing have really made me realize that code is where i want to be. But I'm also generally confused lol, it's up and down but i like it. I went bouldering, which is like the official sport of tech lmao. Also top right pic is of a bugged project me and my boyfriend are working on, and its so nice to just sit down and be accountable and confused with someone lol

ASSIGNMENT DONEEEE

Finished my group project!! Now i just have to start working on my presentation for our assessment on friday (': here's the game if anyone's up for trying it out! https://pokemon-memorygame.netlify.app/

We used a free API to randomly fetch data about different pokémons, and they are dynamically displayed using JS. The score is stored in the browser's storage with local storage!! Here are some of the snippets I worked on <:

Today we officially ended our JS course at school, and I'm gonna miss our lecturer so much 😭 been prepping for tomorrow's assessment all day, i really hope i pass!! And I'm gna meet with some classmates before lunch to rehearse one last time 🌹🌹also lol in the last pic I'm having tea from the tea advent calendar i got from my mom, it was actually so good (yes i put milk in my tea...)

Hii, I’ve been lurking on studyblr and I’ve been very active on langblr for 6+ years but I never really made an introduction post. This is a new blog for a new chapter in my life; In only a couple of weeks I’m gonna start studying to become a front end developer, and I am so excited and nervous! I made this blog to hopefully keep me motivated and to surround myself with like-minded people. <:

Maybe it was cause of school stressing me out, maybe it was because I didn’t actually like the subjects I was studying... Either way, I’m gonna make an active effort to change this!!

: ̗̀➛ Stay organised and consequent in my studies - this speaks for itself; not procrastinating!!! And not getting burnt out!!

: ̗̀➛ Make time for hobbies aside of studying - I need to be able to sit down and crochet, or watch a show without stressing out about school 

: ̗̀➛ Not take on too many responsabilites - I have a history of doing too much, getting too involved in everything and then just ending up in a burnt-out pool of anxiety... we’re not doing that again hihi.
