Page 3. ---- Sudbury Man Fined for Runs to Froo Mine --- Special to The Star Sudbury, July 28 - Carrying 38 passengers from Sudbury to Frood Mine, at a rate of $4.50 a month for each passenger, Fred Dren, Sudbury taxi driver, was found guilty by Magistrate Willard Cooper of a breach of the Public Vehicles Act. Dren was receiving $195 a month for transporting men to work.
G. M. Miller, lawyer for Dren, said he would appeal the fine of $10 and costs.
The question of whether taxi firms have the right to transport workers to Frood Mine, when there is a bus company licence to travel on the Sudbury-Frood highway, has always been a bone of contention between the taxi and transport companies.
