"would you allow me to ask you a question, my lord?"
sukuna replies with a nonchalant nod.
"why did you never heal them?" uraume gently pats their masters back dry after his bath.
silence.
the mans eyebrows furrow lightly.
uraume lowers their head immediately after noticing his reaction, or the lack of it, "my apologies, sukuna-sama, i shouldn't have asked, this won't happen again."
after hesitating for a moment they continue their task. sukuna's body language is barely noticeable but uraume can tell that his back tensed up. the silence is almost deafening.
"it's a reminder." the king of curses said. his voice sounding somehow deeper than usual.
uraume stops for a moment but continues once they realize they don't want to seem like they're pitting their lord. as uraume touches his back with the cloth again they see that he slightly flinches, a split second that no one but uraume's eyes could've spotted, and stops right away.
"i"m terribly sorry for overstepping once more but w-" the servant stutters. uraume knows their place but there are just so many things that are still a mystery about the man they see first thing in the morning and last before going to be for several years now. "why?"
A low grunt can be heard from sukuna. uraume always thought there is next to nothing that could agitate this man... up until now. but they also know that if sukuna cannot be bothered to talk about something he will make sure the other knows.
"talk to me... please." uraume entirely lets loose of their manners, knowing full well about the consequences that could follow but their urge to know more about the man that gave them a purpose is much stronger.
"a reminder of their cruelty." he takes the cloth next to him to dry up his hair, almost like an attempt to distract from the situation.
uraume immediately stands up and takes the cloth "no, let me do it, sukuna-sama."
"tsk." sukuna turns his gaze away as uraume kneels down in front of him.
"the cruelty of humans?" uraume asks while starting to dry his hair, trying to surpress the shakiness in their voice.
the man silently nods again while clenching his jaw.
"i could've escaped," sukuna confesses in a manner that was unknown to uraume so far but they continued their work. "i could've killed each and everyone one of them right there but-" the man shifts trying to make himself more comfortable in a situation where it was impossible for him. "they made me believe i deserved it," he clicks his tongue once more "...wretched humans."
uraume swallows, still trying to remain unfazed by seeing their masters vulnerability for the first time.
"with each whip, each curse they threw at me, each pair of eyes that looked at me full of hatred and disgust, i understood more and more," sukuna pauses, anger unfolding on his face.
...you understood what?" uraume asks hesitantly.
sukuna's wrath filled gaze turning directly to uraume's.
"that I wasn't a monster before they turned me into one."
yea, uhm... hi, i just really wanted to explain the context of this drawing and i had a glass of wine and cigarettes next to me and it turned into... this Imao
