While Columbina has grown more adventurous over time, she still finds it difficult to travel out of her beloved Nod-Krai. Encouraged by her companions, the moon maiden decided to take the long journey towards Mondstadt - it was a bit of a challenge, no longer having the aid of her Fatui soldiers, who'd once move at any noise made in the night, risking their lives over what was usually a harmless boar.

The forests of the Anemo Archon's region are large, Columbina finds. The trees could block out the entire night sky, leaving only gaps between leaves for stars to peek down at wandering persons such as herself. While Columbina is not fearful of most things, even she cannot help but feel eyes upon her as she continues her trek down the path.

"Ah-" She startles, watching a squirrel scurry past and up another tree. "... Surely, it's nothing."

A   brief   moment   of   silence   lingered   in   the   air   before   Sigrika   let   out   a   dejected   sigh.   

"It's   not   the   first   time   I've   been   told   that"   wearing   her   heart   on   her   sleeve   could   be   quite   inconvenient   at   times   like   these,   but   it   couldn't   be   helped,   she   and   dishonesty   just   didn't   mix,   like   water   and   oil.

The Shorekeeper responds with silence, back turned to the young man while she continues typing up her report on the holographic screen in front of her. On a different day, maybe she would have humored him - but when she is too focused on her duties, she loses all connection with the outside world, akin to working on auto pilot.

Delicate fingers dance across the keypad, the digital entity shifting weight from one foot to the other. "If you require my assistance, please wait until I am finished, Lohen."

oh boy! what a question. one of usa's major character arcs in both the manga and subsequent animes is that she was stuck in the body of a child for over 900 years. never aging. never changing. she could think and reason like an adult on some level, but her body didn't reflect it for much of her life and it was, subsequently, the reason her own powers were so latent. rife with insecurity and feeling inadequate to sailor moon, it essentially stunted her growth. i've gone in depth before both about her physical development and a major plot point involving those insecurities being used to manipulate her into a villain, which are linked if you want to read them.

but going off those experiences alone as examples, usa equally harbours guilt for the messes she caused and also used what she learned to grow stronger. when she was able to overcome her insecurity about being unable to meet expectations or live up to sailor moon's legacy, she was finally able to tap into her own power. so in a literal sense, she was able to gain strength from her experiences. but she also learned a valuable lesson in leaning on others — her friends, her family, her community — when she can no longer carry the burden herself.

one of usa's biggest flaws, to me personally, is that she's stubbornly independent. as a child, and being stuck as a child, she would often refuse help simply by virtue of wanting to be seen as an adult so badly. the refusal to accept help or open up about her own feelings fed into the cycle of insecurity that almost tore her life apart.

so she's come a long way from that. now, she knows that the people she loves care for her just as much and she doesn't needlessly hide away her feelings.

Rogue Imagenae weren't an oddity in Planaradia, and with the stability of the planet gradually spiraling, scuffles in the streets were becoming more common. Not even the Department of Aberration Defense could keep pace with the sharp uptick in violence that had spiraled over the past several days, and danger in the streets had grown worse. Yet, when Dan Heng had made a move to protect a small throng of civilians blindsided by a rogue Voidranger, another spearman manifested from thin air and dispatched it before he could, standing back as his mental faculties caught up with the sudden addition.

nefer does not participate in wild hunts, but she does deal in secrets, in stories and favors as currency. when varka had contacted her while in nod-krai and struck up a plan for the events that would transpire, she hadn't minded helping, he'd given her plenty to think about. what she hadn't expect is this one - vice captain lohen. he was lightning in a bottle, barely controlled and unexplicably hilarious. now the latter is only something she experiences, because he does not worry her. infact, the way he is on the battlefield is ruthless, and it was a good quality to have, especially in nod-krai.

there is, however, something that tickles her brain, something off that she cannot pinpoint and for nefer, that is an issue. because it makes her curious, makes her want to investigate, but there's no putting jahoda in the line of fire when she's got nothing but time on her hands. and though she doesn't turn up much leads, she returns to the curatorium, but not empty handed. a singular thread that perhaps means nothing, but she'll allow it to dangle. ashru greets her as she enters, and though there is no sound, no shift in the space, she knows they aren't alone.

quiet, careful steps, eyes crinkling at the corners as she turns into her personal office, and sees him sitting in the spare chair, comfortable as if he had a right to be there. it's easy to get into his space, moving like the serpent she is, nefer pressing the letter opener to his throat but she's hardly delusional to think he's allowed her to get this close. he's far more cunning than that. his words confirming as he tilts his head back against the chair to meet her gaze. ❝ ━ no. i would never expect a flicker of fear in you. but then, if you were worried about my actions, i'm a hundred percent you wouldn't have allowed me this close. ❞ shrugging, a smirk curves golden tinted lips before she removes the letter opening, flipping it through her fingers before moving around the desk to take a seat, ❝ ━ how can i be of assistance to you? or more importantly, what are you willing to exchange for my curiosity ? ❞ / @frostedge
