Weeks of eating out and eating frozen, store-bought meals were starting to take a toll on Ava. She never was much of a cook in Los Angeles - there were so many food choices that it was almost overwhelming, and what meals she did make were always simple and required minimal effort. Ava decided that, with the large amount of free time she wasn’t used to, she would branch out and try some of the more time-intensive recipes she’d always seen on her social media feed. That meant, however, perusing the grocery store for items she had never purchased in her life. She looked back down at her phone, re-reading the list one more time, and scanned the aisle signs with her brow furrowed. “Turmeric..? Where would that be...?”
