it’s been a long, lonely path on the way back to the butterfly state, to get his injuries treated -- his body wasn’t at its limit thanks to the breathing technique. there was pain and discomfort, but he managed to handle it all the way through, but despite the bandages wrapped around his arms, blood could be seen through the fabric.

as he reached the said destiny and approached the mansion, making his way inside to look for assistance, he heard a not so familiar voice calling for him and the concern tone in the person’s voice made him stop mid-way, turning around in search for the voice. with a subtle move of his head, slightly nodding as a gesture of gratitude of the concern, trying to reassure her he was okay.

perhaps you were projecting a little bit. you certainly couldn’t let your guard down for long enough to relax. it wasn’t even clear what had made you feel so unsafe to begin with, to the point where you’d rather seek company, rather chase frivolous conversation, than lay in the dark alone. ❝ why’re y’still up? ❞

you’d never been in a position where growing accustomed to the cold was necessary. the chilliest it became in huron was akin to earth’s early autumn: a balmy breeze; a wispy wind; the slightest inkling of need for an extra layer when venturing out to work. never before had you required a coat or a pair of boots for the sake of braving terrain, they were simply sensible fashion choices. your lack of understanding about the earth’s seasons was becoming more and more apparent as your visitation increased. could you really be blamed, though? to you, winter didn’t exist.

even now, tucked snugly in your thickest suit jacket, the cold was chewing through and burrowing into your bones, body rattling as you attempted to huddle into your own embrace. your tight grip around your mid-section did little for your helpless shuddering, though you clung regardless, convinced it would change at some point.
