Last pic for tonight. Here’s two more older characters that didn’t get used yet, from Other Attic. Crow & Leif. Again, just a garbage sketch. Serious issues with the proportions and everything. Crow is part of a group that went insane and ended up in the Other Attic that thinks he is a rabbit. Leif is a criminal that tried hanging himself, but ends up in Other Attic, then crosses paths with Crow who thinks he is a pig because of the mask he’s wearing (which is now tightened and stuck on his face). As far as designs, Crow was originally actually meant to BE a rabbit, and was heavily based on the blink-182 rabbit mixed with their smiley logo, but he later became a guy in a suit. Leif was always a guy in a mask, but his story wasn’t really planned out. Initially, the pair was going to have their own comic, but I honestly couldn’t think of a good plot that revolved around two killers dressed as animals, so they became background characters for my larger stories instead.

It’s a long story to explain them, and it will happen when I need to explain it, but for now, just enjoy that they are weird and stupid.

Two more old characters that hadn’t been used yet in the comics. They were planned for an arc I hadn’t gotten to yet for Jack & Jill centering around Duck learning about other kids that had been part of the project he’d been subjected to turning him into a weapon. Originally, the concept was just Duck, but then I created Moth, who I decided was his opposite, but I slowly began adding other characters to the project, including Crow (from Other Attic) and then creating the girl, Ant. This created a naming scheme of 2 birds & 2 bugs, coincidentally, actually. Moth’s design was originally intended to be kind of bishounen, but I slowly drifted away from that, deciding to make Crow more of one, since his face is generally hidden, making it more of a surprise when his face is revealed. Ant was designed to just be a quiet girl that really didn’t like the idea of fighting or using her weapons. The new character, Firefly, is probably going to join them. While Moth, Duck & Ant brood about their misfortune, and Crow went insane, I like to think Firefly is another opposite, as she is a positive character who is a weapon, but accepts her fate and makes light of it. I’m not sure. These are just sketches, trying to get a feel for redrawing all of these characters that I haven’t drawn in almost 10 years. I don’t actually know what style I am going with, and will put more effort in final/colored versions.

This is just a garbage sketch of a character that had a pivotal role in the original (and unfinished) “Other Attic” story. Mr. Bubbles is actually based directly on a real person I know named Jean. This isn’t a final version, I just redrew the original picture from years ago and changed the face a bit to what the kid last looked like when I saw him. I’ll probably change a bit about him if I get around to rebooting Other Attic, but he was basically the embodiment of 4chan, so everything that came out of his mouth was like reading a thread on any board there. Not sure if that aspect will continue on in his final form or not. I think the fact he treats Other Attic as a game & respawns will stick, though.

I honestly have no idea what this is. This isn’t even what it started as. It originally looked like 80s Shredder, wrapped in bandages with the alarm on his head, then the body started getting too weird for the cartoony face, so it became a zombie. I decided this would be part of “Other Attic” since none of that needs to ever make sense, just needs to be creepy and stupid, which is exactly what a Mummy Policeman is.

New year, new promises and a new character. I have officially begun actually restarting my comics, having written out an outline and 60% of the script and beginning to rebrand my stuff with new colors and ideas. I sketched a girl while coming home yesterday and decided to fully redraw her a few hours ago. I really wanted to make a girl with a “firefly” theme, but I don’t really know why. When it came to coloring, I decided on “watermelon” colors, but I am not 100% sure if they will be final or not. I was inspired a little (both in color and in design) by 80′s anime. I don’t know. I’ll find a place for her. Really, just felt like sharing this because I’m excited to be drawing again for myself. I’m excited to start comics again. Little by little, but it’s real this time.
