Fantasy books were written to be read in fall and winter; traveled through while the rain thunders and the weather turns chilly. 🍂 __ “She was his princess. No. She was his goddess. With her golden skin and golden hair. She was his light. His life. His everything. He loved her more than anything else in this world.” — #FrozenTides ✨ __ Can you tell that i’m swooning, hard? Oh boy this series keeps getting better and better. I finished book 4 last night and now making my way through book 5 and i’m falling in love with it all over again. And while we’re on the subject of swooning and love, who’s your top male character? *wink-wink* __ #readersofegypt #bookstagram #flatlays #flatlaystyling #flatlayoftheday #fallingkingdoms #mybookfeatures (at Mountain view hyde park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4FnFPbHqWd/?igshid=1mtlpasesr6gu

🔥"Because if you don't choose to fight against the wrong in the world, then you are the wrong in the world." 🔥 Any Morgan Rhodes' fan here? ❤️ I love her Falling Kingdom series and even if all the books have been published I still have to read the last two. Honestly, I don't want it to be over! 🙊 Who's your favorite character? I can't choose between Magnus and Cleo, so my answer is Magneo. 😍 #MorganRhodes #FallingKingdoms #RebelSpring #GatheringDarkness #FrozenTides #CrystalStorm #ImmortalReign #beautifulbooks #bookstagram #bookworm #booknerd #booklover #booksbooksbooks #photography #ireadya #bookgeek #bookstagrammer #bookblogger #bookphotography #iloveya #bibliophile #booklove #bookish #bookaholic #bookobsessed https://www.instagram.com/ladyaredhel93/p/BqmeGXHHVyM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1kv0wc728qbaf

Sooo- This is the Frozen Tides cover, It is beautiful with what looks like Lucia on the cover. I am going to give a brief bio on the book then get into my review.
FROZEN TIDES (#4) Rebels, royals, and monsters wage war over the Mytican throne in the shocking fourth book of the Falling Kingdoms series, from New York Times bestselling author Morgan Rhodes. CLEO: Reeling after a bloody showdown in Limeros ending with Amara’s abduction of the water crystal, and a vacancy in the Mytican throne, Princess Cleo must cast aside her feelings and look toward her kingdom with the eyes of a Queen. MAGNUS: With the kingdom in chaos, Princess Lucia still missing and quite possibly in danger, and a shocking realization about Cleo, the steely prince is once again torn between love and duty, leaving him wondering whether he’s strong enough to rule his people. LUCIA: The young sorcercess has had her vengeance after the cruel death of her first and only love. Heartbroken and unable to trust anyone, she allies with the awoken Fire god, who also seeks revenge. JONAS: After escaping death by the skin of his teeth, the defeated rebel—along with a mysterious stranger–leader reunites with Princess Cleo, only to find himself a mere pawn in a dangerous hunt for the elusive Kindred. KING GAIUS: Abandoned by Melenia and betrayed by his own children, Gaius flees Mytica and sails to Kraeshia, where he attempts to ally with the famously brutal emperor across the Silver Sea.
So here is my previous review, most people have not seen it but I am going to put it in so people know my view, and talk about it farther as I get into a discussion of what I think of this book now. I still LOVVVEE it, so here you goo.
Actual Review- Spoilers May be Present:
Hiya Guys- Welcome to the Nether! Today I am going to be talking about TWO books today. Gathering Darkness and Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes. These books are a sudden mix of emotions- and I am going to get into it in a second but dang this book escalated fast! I am so impressed by the way this book is going so far- being that is a six book series is all and the next book is coming out mid- December and there is no way I can get my hands on it early DAMN it. Anyway, since I did not make a proper review of Gathering Darkness because I did not know what to really say without repeating myself- I am going to mention it throughout this review because why not it is part of the same story arc anyway. Lets get this started shall me onto the points: Point 1: MAGNUS AND CLEO MAGNUS AND CLEO CLEO AND MAGNUS AHHHH! Okay I had to get that out of my system one more time on the could DAMN MAGNUS AND FREAKING CLEO. I was super excited when I found out these two were getting together. There was a bunch of scenes with the couple and I did adore that because unlike every other love interest in this novel- THIS CHARACTER COUPLE was ACTUALLY DEVELOPED enough for me to BELIEVE. It was kind of frustrating me that the couples did not have reason to all be in love with each other. I actually SKIPPED the scene where Lucia and Alexis make love because frankly I did not care for their love. She did not make me believe they were head over heels in love for me to care. I feel like from the comments you guys have given me throughout reading this series most of you agree that Magnus and Cleo are the best ship in the novel. I found it sort of freaky that Lucia would actually want to kiss her brother NOW that he was trying not to give her what she wanted. She is pregnant- GREATTT I wonder how that is going to play out in the next two novels. We are introduced the Felix more in this novel- he is a kickass, and frankly he is WAY better than Jonas by FAR. Jonas loves Lysandra - ((Shocker didn't see that one coming but he still loves Cleo too sooooo BLAH)) Then we got whats her face that starts with a N marrying King Gias and I was like "WHATT...well she was a slut this is a perfect couple)) even though she is actually in love with Felix. This made kind of was a perfect pair because their both whores in a way so....I get it. Magnus and Cleo though- sexying timing on a rug though...Agh I love them they need to have 15,000 babies ...populate the earth. It makes more since when a couple of kids loath each other until they love each other. That and there was a lot of scenes with them getting to UNDERSTAND one another. That is what I love about them- onto the next point. Point 2: The plot is basically the same but whats her face with the N in her name fucked her whole family up because she is a feminist in a mans world. I did not like how her father treated her - and I guess that was put there to make her feel sorry for her. The only person she loves in her entire family was her grandmother and believe it or not the brother she killed Asher who is dead (OR REALLY?) That ending though- god damn it hopefully we get a makeout scene with Nick and Asher- GOD MAKE IT HAPPEN MORGAN RHODES MAKE IT HAPPEN. Okay back to the plot. Lucia is traveling with the fire kindred and guess what - he turns out to be a asshole (shocker). Lucia then goes out to see the watchers in order to stop the kendred for being woken up. Magnus and Cleo kill King Gias who we found out was in love with Cleona's mother. Jonas is still useless - SHOCKER. Felix sleeps with twins he doesn't know the names of. I don't know how this is going to end up now with King Gias (basically the enemy for the entire series) dead the whole book series now is going to focus on stopping the kendred for being woken up probably. That and they want to stop whats her face with the N in her name from being a bitch. Onto the next point. Point 3: Side characters end up being main characters- Milo is trying to bring rebellion on his side of the continent. Felix helps him by getting Magnus to side with them. Jonas has Olivia now (who ends up being a very useless watcher) and well they are going somewhere to kill people now. Nick is still pretty useless because Asher died in the last book but guess what (HIS BACKKKK). The personality of the characters haven't changed a bit but there is still more to fix in the novel. I will love to see where this goes. Point 4: Writtening is very compelling and there is a lot of action throughout this entire series. If you like blood and gore and getting your eyes taken out of your face with a knife this is the series for you. I really like the atmosphere this book sets forth. I like the environments and it makes me feel like I'm at five places at once. This is compared to Game of Thrones a lot with less characters to worry about so if Game of Thrones intimidates you then pick up this novel series. It is a medieval fantasy with a complex magic system and some killer characters besides Jonas ((god Jonas how did you even survive for far you almost died like five times throughout these four books)) You need to set aside the massive instalove this book sets forth in your face that basically chokes you into NOT enjoying it to get to Frozen Tides. I am saying this to you because DAMN it is true. In Conclusion I am going to give 5 stars. This book was my favorite in this series and I would say it was the best in the series. The development of Magnus and Cleo is something this book needed. I hated that they kept saying they hated eachother when clearly they wanted to sleep together. YOU ARE NOT FOULING ME CHILDREN I PLAYED DRAGON AGE! Okay I will see you the next time I need a novel you guys! BYE~
This book is almost like the peek of the series for me. It kind of establishes the love interest- well, Magnus and Cleo has a couple with their smokey love scene as well with Lucia’s baby being a main plot point in this book. I think the books prior to this series I just thought they were alright. It was a standard fantasy YA that incorporate a interesting Kingdom dynamic that shines through. I didn’t really love the characters so much until this book. I thought Magnus rather creepy before he started actually loving Cleo, with his whole sister fetish. This happened quite often in the medieval era, but In just thought it was rather insane that he thought it would be okay to love his sister. Also, their crazy dad marrying a power hungry princess. This was normal in this book, because usually younger girls would marry men with power no matter what age they were. The whole Magnus’s father dying thing, however, made a large plot twist to the story. I still don’t like Jonas or Lucia, but that is just personal preference.
I still believe the writing in the book makes you believe you are in a medieval setting. Sometimes I feel like authors tend to write in a way that teenagers will better understand their literature, but honestly I don’t want that in a book that is suppose to be in a fantasy world in the late 1200s, I want to see some old timey type of text. Of course make it so we understand what is going on, but make me believe that I am in a magical place where anything can happen. I believe that I am in that sort of place in this type of book. Rhodes is very good at making you seem like your there, and you want to strangle some of the characters for their flaws and wrong discussion making. I like that they are not perfect, that is what makes this such a good series to pick up in general.
There is not so much that I haven’t already said in my first reading of this book. I still have my same passion that I did a couple of year ago about the fourth book. It is probably the most epic of the series so far, and you can get this book now because it is actually been out for quite a while. The 6th book, IMMORTAL REIGN, comes out February 6th, and it is the epic conclusion to the series. I want to thank Penguin for letting me join in on the fun for the love of this series.
