“Heyyy c’mon, why can’t we all just group together right now?” Melcio’s king and two dozen soldiers were the first to arrive to the town most recently affected by the behemoth, voicing his concern as he saw the damage first hand. Houses and streets were demolished, crops and other plants had withered and turned an off black color---citizens able to walk and communicate showed vague purple splotches on their skin, visible symptoms not limited to coughing and nausea. Carmi attempted not to look at scattered corpses down the street. Focus on the living.
He gave a worried exhale, glancing toward his closest group. “Ahh... listen, we can manage. Let’s go set up medical tents; I’ll help pitch them, but I need five people to scout and see if it’s still close by.” Shortly after he finished his sentence, five soldiers and a few residents volunteered to go beyond the town’s limits, and Carmi couldn’t help but feel a weight lift from his shoulders. At least they were well organized down here, where the chaos was closest.
A vigorous wave was offered at their departure before Carmi turned back again, aware he could only do so much with his ability and the supplies they brought. He wasn’t aware of it just yet, but he would need plenty more assistance if he was going to repeat this process for all other places impacted.
