The first time I’m doing upgrades to an electric rc car. I got the Axial SCX24 a little over two months ago. It’s a micro crawler in 1/4 scale. I’ve been making performance upgrades to it. Trying to get a good crawler experience out of it. Seemed pretty capable out of the box. So far I’ve added when weights and diff cover weights to it. The weights were surprisingly heavy t me.
The diff covers are 13g and 9g front and back. And each when weight is 9g each, 36g total Being an American, I really have no reference for what grams are as far as weight is concerned. I have a better idea now. The weights made a noticeable difference in the ease of getting g over some of the obstacles I’ve tried to crawl over. I didn’t have to punch it over anymore. It could just pull itself up.
The current upgrade is a brushless motor and a new ESC. The hope here is more torque and the ability to use a hotter battery one day. I’m going to have to take this thing down more than I ever have before. Hope I don’t lose anything.
