Over 15 years and the question “what’s your favorite anime?” still has Fruits Basket crossing my mind because no matter how much time passes, it remains so, so close to my heart. I finally bought the spin off sequel and I’m so happy! \( ´ ▽ ` )/💕 this series really means so much to me. 🍙🌻 Furuba was the single most important thing I ever read when I was young (cause I was a manga person before an anime person), not just because it was the most emotionally captivating, but it hit so close to home it hurt. I came to realize how much it actually got me through a lot of growing up without knowing it, and l really don’t know how I’d have gotten by without. It detailed extreme degrees of mental, emotional and physical abuse that to me was almost unrealistic; it came with a bittersweet feeling years later realizing we went through exactly that at the same time I was reading it. Regardless of how the story breaks your heart the whole thing always leaves you with an incredibly sweet, endearing and a magical kind of warmth. A re-animation covering the whole story exactly as it’s written is something I’ve thought about and strongly wished for but never thought could be in the cards, so the remake is a real dream come true for me!
