A french boulangerie, also known as, a bakery. Sweets and sandwiches galore, these little shops are full of subs, tarts, and croissants. The variety of subs were quite overwhelming, especially if you can’t read french. I settled for a ham and cheese with butter on a baguette. Now typically I like my sandwiches/subs/ toasted but alas, the workers were not keen on the idea, it was not possible. However, the sub was still delicious. I noticed that the baguette was a bit more dense than I am used too, but good nonetheless. Upon initial bite, I was disappointed. The cheese didn’t stand out and I could barely taste the ham, but several more bites in and the taste begins to hit. It was a simple sub but everything worked together. A great midday lunch.
It was also my first time having a fruit tart. Sitting there in the window, it was calling my name. After my first bite, I knew it wasn’t the dessert for me. I guess I should have trusted the name a little more seeing as though it is called a tart, but I did not expect it to be so sour. I think that the bad initial taste caused me to also dislike the fruits that decorate the top. I threw the whole thing away.
