@frxncaise liked for an Irish muse!
Oscar studied Angelique carefully, holding her hand delicately in his own calloused fingers, almost like he was afraid he would break her. He had a certain look of caution and hesitation in his eyes and was trying to ignore the way his stomach was twisting nervously. After a moment of silence, he looked down at their joined hands, his thumb gently tracing lines over the back of her hand. He wanted to fidget. Hell, he wanted to run away… but he couldn’t. He wouldn’t. How could he tell her how he felt? He was no good at feeling. Finally, he managed to speak so quietly that she wasn’t sure she would even be able to hear her. “I dunno know whatcha see in me…” he said quietly. “I don't deserve ya. I wish I did… b-because…” He gulped and looked away.

"A bad kisser? Who told you that?" Henry made a face like something was sour, "If it was a guy we're gonna have words." Knowing full well the person was probably long in the past, still, he didn't like that anyone would say such a thing to her. "Practice makes perfect, right? If you ever feel rusty you can exercise on me."
He wrapped an arm around her as they walked away from the house of mirrors, as fun as it had been, and strolled toward the main part of the carnival. "Rigged, smigged." Henry smiled, "I'm a crack shot, I can get you a prize with that water balloon game easy, those clowns will never know what hit them."
The clowns in question being the ones he hand to shoot water into in order to fill up a balloon to win a prize. "You like big ass stuffed animals?"
@frxncaise sent in: you don't get to touch me yet.
a loud whine leaves the blonde, instinctively grabbing at the chair that he was sat upon. this stupid little game, this little silly dance that they've got going on? well, needless to say, mapplethorpe's grades have gotten slightly better. so, whatever angelique had decided to do seemed to be working. ( as if it's his fault that he's so touch starved. ) a huff leaves him, face flushed as his eyes shift away from her.
"you always get to touch me. that's not fair,"

"Don't stare at me like that, alright, Angie? I know what you're thinkin' even if ya aren't sayin' it. I feel your look." Riff huffed, looking under the hood of his car as it was now smoking. "Do not say I told ya so."

@frxncaise sent: “ wait… hold on a second, what year is it? “
ABRAHAM WAS READY TO DISMISS THIS AS NAUGHT BUT A particularly strange incident when the strange woman asked a question that sent shivers down his spine. He paused, his haunted gray gaze flickering upward to meet Angélique’s own.
“…it is currently eighteen-sixty-one.” Abraham responded, his voice HESITANT amidst the curious uncertainty which this question provoked. “Why do you ask?”

"You lookin' for Race?"
The small blond boy is perched on the wall beside the lodging house, legs dangling down and swinging idly as he chews on a crust of bread, trying to make it last as long as humanly possible. It hasn't exactly been a good selling day after all, and he needs to save his coins for his bed, and for his next set of papes, even if Race has told him on more than one occasion that if he needs a little help he can get it. Race tries to help everybody, sometimes too much. Splasher might only be eight, but even he can see that.
He's seen this girl about before, he's pretty sure, and he reckons he's seen Race talking to her, if his memory serves him, though he's not entirely sure who she is. Still, any friend of Race's is a friend of his, and the older boy usually has pretty good judgement. Most of the time. Splasher takes another bite of the crust, pulling his legs up to fold them beneath him, studying her curiously.
"He ain't here though. Headed off to Brooklyn for poker night."
