Guys remember when I took requests like million years ago? I suddenly remembered this at work yesterday when I was bored and I needed some break from all the angst I’ve been writing. I hope you still drop by from time to time Ren!

"A cat."
"Yes. A cat."
Lord Kojuro looked at the cat in your lap a deep frown on his face, his hand tucked firmly in his sleeves.
"Are you absolutely sure?"
The cat purred loudly and kneaded your thigh gently as if it was the happiest cat alive.
"Well... I can't be absolutely sure, but just look at him? He has Lord Masamune's eyes."
"But... a cat...?"
Lord Kojuro looked dejected, his gaze shifting from you to the grey cat and back at you again.
"Lord Masamune wouldn't just disappear like that, Lord Kojuro. Not when Lord Shigezane promised to come to visit-"
"Masamune? I'm coming in."
"Speak of the devil..." Lord Kojuro muttered as the door flew open and Lord Shigezane stepped inside. The cat in your lap sat up with a disgruntled huff and stared at Lord Shigezane.
"Hi Kojuro, hello, doll. Where's Masamune?"
"He...umm..." you let your gaze fall into your lap where the cat sat, still staring at Lord Shigezane.
"When did you get a cat? Isn't it cute! Aren't you the cutest little kitty?" Lord Shigezane crouched down in an attempt to pet the cat, but it put it's paw on his hand to stop him.
"Aww, doesn't it like to be pet? What a shame."
"Ah, ermm, I think that's not the issue..." Lord Kojuro sighed and explained the situation to Lord Shigezane.
"...so you're saying the cat is Masamune. And we need to make sure nobody else finds out. Oookay." Shigezane looked at both of you like you were trying to pull his leg.
"I'll go make some tea," you quickly interjected before Lord Kojuro would lose his temper with Lord Shigezane. He looked tired and stressed enough. You picked up the cat and stood up.
"Are you taking Lord Masamune with you?" Lord Kojuro asked before you could leave. You looked at the cat who looked back at you with its mismatched eyes.
"Er... yes? But I don't think we can keep calling him Lord Masamune."
"How about we call him-"
"No." Lord Shigezane stopped Lord Kojuro before he had time to finish, "We are not calling the cat Bontenmaru."
The cat seemed to agree, swishing its tail back and forth, its ears turned back, looking as displeased as a cat could.
"No... but maybe... Maru?" you suggested. The cat made a content mrrp-sound and looked at you, pushing its head against your chin.
"Maru, eh? I guess you'd like the name she chose for you, wouldn't you, Maru?" Shigezane reached to pet the cat, but this time it hissed at him and slapped his hand away with its paw. "Rude! How can she can pet you, but I can't?"
You hid your laugh behind your hair as you set the cat down, "Wait here, Maru. I'll be right back with your food and some tea." The cat meowed and rubbed against your legs before it walked to Kojuro and sat on top of his papers.
When you returned, you were met with the most adorable sight: Lord Kojuro and Shigezane were huddled at the desk, the cat standing on Lord Kojuro's shoulder, occasionally reaching for a paper. You sat the tray down as quietly as possible and prepared the tea, watching as the three of them tried to get all of the work done.
Throughout the day, you helped Lord Kojuro and Lord Shigezane to sort through the papers, coming up with excuses why Lord Masamune wasn't with you.
The cat, on the other hand, seemed to have the day of its life. It dug through the piles of paper, digging out some and tapping them with its paw until someone picked it up and started to work. But most of all, it wanted to be as close to you as possible.
"It was a pretty exciting day, wasn't it, Maru?" you asked the cat as you prepared to go to sleep. "Too bad Lord Kojuro couldn't find anything about how to turn you back into a human, but tomorrow is a new day, right?"
You sat on the bedding and the cat hopped into your lap, its purr as loud as ever. You lifted it to your arms to cuddle it before you placed it next to your pillow.
"I'm going to sleep now, Maru. I'm sure tomorrow we'll find a cure."
The cat curled to your side, purring and making biscuits as you stroked its soft fur.
"No matter what, I'll always love you, Lord Masamune," you whispered and leant in to place a soft kiss on the cat's nose.
Before you knew what happened, Lord Masamune was next to you, looking as baffled as you felt.
"I- what-?" you blurted out. You reached to touch his cheek, to make sure he was really there with you and not just some hallucination brought to you by your wish to see him again.
You kissed him again and again until he pulled you into his strong arms.
"I'm back. I'm sorry I made you worried." He pressed his forehead against yours and you smiled at him despite the tears glistening in your eyes.
"Welcome home, Lord Masamune."
