I don't know what it is about the "annoying moronic robot companion" trope, but...
I love Wheatley (Portal), Kevin (Final Space), and GIR (Invader Zim) a lot... the first two I feel really deserve better treatment...

Final Space and Portal (2) Crossover
I can’t stop picturing a very specific Crossover but don’t have the time to write it now so... Here’s a collection of ideas for it. - Wheatley and Space-Core getting found by Kevin and Kevin going to Season 2′s group and introducing them as his new buddies. - Space-Core and Wheatley getting upgraded with Kevin looking arms and floating abilities, giving them freedom of mobility. - Wheatley being compared to Kevin a few too many times until every time people make a comment about Kevin’s intelligence feels like a personal attack. (And people subsequently helping Wheatley with his triggers.) - Wheatley and Gary actually bonding over the fact that they were stuck in space being driven insane by loneliness and their annoying robot companion. - Space-Core getting a cool spacey name like “Cosmo” - Space-Core glued to the window just staring at the stars passing by. - Space-Core maybe learning more about space and spaceships and actually becoming a pretty good (but unpredictable) star ship pilot. - Mooncake and Space-Core becoming besties for some reason. - Wheatley working through his guilt in silence until someone realizes that something is definitely going on with him and then everyone starts to reveal the screwed up shite they’ve done/been through and while Wheatley never forgives himself for what he did while connected with the Chassim, he stops thinking about it as often and stops beating himself up over it. - Wheatley trying to give Kevin a true chance at being a friend, but that unbridled optimism even after screwing up horribly being too much for the ‘intelligence dampening’ core to handle. - Kevin ends up doing something very screwed up, leading to Wheatley emotionally blowing up at Kevin, just to see Kevin react like typical Kevin. Wheatley just beside himself, unable to wrap his mind around how someone so similar to himself is so incomprehensible to his internal processing. - Wheatley being forced into a situation he needs to connect to something bigger in order to save his new friends and dealing with PTSD and anxiety over it. Feel free to add any Final Space - Portal Crossover things you think of!
