     this was one of those moments where the movie would have stopped, and one could hear the record scratch followed by the main character saying: ‘yeah, that’s me. you’re probably wondering how i ended up in this situation.’.  it was both, fortunately and unfortunately real life. fletch had no idea what had just happened. one second she could feel her insides boil with anger and the need to protect her best friend and roommate, and the other ?? she could only see her fist flying to hit a stranger square in the jaw. it was unlike her to do so, and everyone who was at least a little bit acquainted with her would know that. usually the silent, cheesy type losing her self-control ?? it was unlikely, and yet... this was her reality now. thankfully enough, though, fletcher didn’t manage to get herself in too much trouble. one of the people who tended the bar was kind enough to confirm that she did not, in fact, start the fight, and that she was doing the only thing that seemed logical at the time. a warning from the bouncers was enough to wake her up from whatever alternate universe she had entered to avoid consequences of the real world. 

     for some reason, there was a smug half-smile dancing around her features. a curious brow quirked upwards, looking at madison, who was most likely shaken up from all this commotion -- she couldn’t blame her. it was one of those moments where fletcher would feel exactly the same way as the other girl. “i guess they don’t call it ‘liquid courage’ for no reason, huh ??” that’s one way to put it, really. if it wasn’t for the amount of shots she had downed and the adrenaline coursing through her veins right now, fletch would be clutching her hand and whining about how much in pain she truly was. “--- are you okay ??” she asked, gently reaching to put her non-battered hand on madison’s shoulder, silently offering a hug, “i feel like the fun’s over and we should head home now, maybe get some junk food and call it a night ?? how’s that ?? my treat.”
