Decided I wanted to start flexing my writing muscles again. So I dug out some of my soloRPGs.

Namely I was torn between Apothecaria and For Small Creatures Such As We. Although I love me some herbalism/fantasy stuffs... I went with FSCSAW because it has fewer expansion packs and is less complicated.

Committed to the randomizer because the point is to have to make fewer decisions about stuff and to lean into the idea that the story is fun when shit goes wrong.

My captain wound up being a Scientist, and then it turns out she's "Under Orders" to a criminal family. I started putting together her background in my head and was like "ooo what if like she grew up with them and still has some obligations, but is trying to leave that life behind"... And that's when I realised that Tendi is the captain of my ship.

For Small Creatures Such As We opened for me another side of roleplaying - solo leveling exist in this type of games too.

I was waiting my copy of this book about two months, and was completely satisfied when received it some time ago.

And I decided to make new story with my OC and our boys from Clone Force 99 in this new world.

It has their own map but it's easily adopted for worlds looks like Stat Wars, Star Track, Babylon 5, or some other and I want to generate some of the most popular teams according this rules as I made this with clones.

Here is my play-notes about my games. They're translated automatically from Russian mostly but in some places I tried to correct them.

Sci-Fi RPGs

I've become absolutely obsessed with Mothership the past week or so. I have a tricky relationship with horror and don't think I'd run any of the modules as written (so dark!), but I'm captivated by the tight design, beautiful layout and sci-fi setting. I love how the community creates in-universe artifacts. Prey (2017) was one of my favourite video games and I'd love to adapt it to a Mothership module.

As a lighthearted alternative, I can recommend For Small Creatures Such As We, by Anna Blackwell. It's a much more cheerful sci-fi solo space adventure rpg, which feels more like Firefly/Becky Chambers vibes to me and is delightful to play.

Don’t know if anyone has heard of it yet, but about 2 weeks ago the Kickstarter for the solo sci-fi tabletop game For Small Creatures Such As We released a little racing “minigame” as part of possible character backgrounds! It’s a space race with 12 competitors including you and a potential rival all trying to win the Galactic Cup! I’m gonna do a few posts that’ll detail bits of the race, plus I really wanna do something to try it out and share the fun! If you wanna know more about FACSAW, I’ve linked the Kickstarter page. Even though it ended quite a while ago, I recommend you keep an eye for it once it fully comes out for public sale!
