Ethan was the definition of a workaholic, he suffered all the symptoms- inability to leave the office, lack of social life, holidays? he wasn’t familiar with the term but it also brought him quite a few privileges. Flashy cars, nice house, the works. It was almost wasted on him though, he wasn’t a materialistic guy. Did it mean he’d calm down, stop talking calls at 1am or turning up at the office mere hours later? absolutely not.
He was actually mid-negotiations with his head of legal when the door bell dragged him alertly back from the borderline slumber he always drifted into when Frank ranted about clauses and conditions. Bolting from his office, he jogged down the stairs before swinging the door open; a warm smile lighting up his face. “Hi beautiful,” he welcomed her, leaning in to press his lips to her cheek before moving aside, gesturing for her to come in. It wasn’t until he straightened up that it became obvious he still had his ear piece in, “No Frank, the day I call you beautiful is the day I need a girlfriend and you and I need to spend less time together.. El is here.” he explained before trying to stifle a laugh. “I do believe ‘exceptionally stunning Ella whose number I won’t give you’ is her full title.” he rolled his eyes at her, trying not to find his crush on Ethan’s best friend so amusing. “Yes Frank, she can hear so i’m gonna go while you still have some of your dignity.” He made a quick remark about a change to the contract before hastily saying his goodbyes, removing the earpiece and tossing it onto the nearest coffee table to give her his undivided attention. “Sorry about that, is somethin’ up? you sounded off on the phone.”
