The time change was always the hardest thing, leaving LA in the afternoon and landing late morning of the next day. Starting down the steps of the plane, her sunglasses didnt truly seemed needed with the over cast weather, but she left them on anyway. Her arrival outfit had been carefully chosen after all. "Don't worry about your bags besides what you'll need for the trip to the hotel." She reminded Val as they graded toward the limo waiting a short way on the tarmac. "I can't wait to shower."

"Miss Val! You look amazin', like you just stepped outta a magazine! Definitely a far better look than my old clothes." Through a smile and with hands full of trays going out, Birch gave a little blow to get a stray tendril fallen from her twist from out of her face, she set it down and turned to have a good look at her. "Oscar's a mighty lucky fella to be your date t'night, my goodness. I hope you're enjoyin' y'self while'n I got 'im busy? Promise ta get him to ya by dessert."

"There you are, I was starting to think you were never going to get here." Of course the hired security had let him pass on sight, his name among the short list of those who could come and go from her space as they pleased. Instantly she was lips on his own, humming softly into them with a lean into his chest with her happiness at just the sight of him. "Have to get my kisses in while I can before Val gets here. I promised her we wouldn't third wheel her." And she really wanted the two of them to hit it off. "I missed you."

"Come on, Val... spill it" Sitting on the floor of Val's new house, the debris of a meal of Carroll's most expensive sushi and a nearly finished bottle of champagne between them. Her head was light but her heart was heavy, every look she stole at her friend's face tearing at her heart because she could tell that she was hurting and she just wanted to make it better.

"It's not good to let it fester, you know. It's okay... if you were in love with him." Gaze shifting from the still empty space around them, where she'd been trying to picture how it would look with Val's touches, to the woman her, she shifted some stuff out of the way so she could slide close enough their their legs were touching. Hugging one of her sad friend's arms to her side, she rested her head on her arm. "You can talk to me, Vals."
