Ella had once thought about having a full, cohesive back piece but jokes that she metaphorically she just puts things on her back she doesn’t want to think about. Really it’s more thoughtful than that, her back mostly having pieces that she got while traveling around the country and abroad. The summer after her graduation from undergrad, she went on a cross country road trip with one of her college roommates and a girl she had been dating at the time. Ella had gotten it into her head that it would be a good idea to get a tattoo in every major city they stopped in and to this day they still keep in contact with all of the artist who took the time to tattoo her back. There’s a few she’s not the most happy about, like the one guy in Colorado who tattooed a drawing of Mario and Luigi on her back. But it’s come to grow on her. When she’s really high or just fucking around with Kit, she’ll turn around and pretend like Mario and Luigi are talking to each other. She’s a big fan of the Arizona, skull and cross tattoos. They make her feel badass and a lot of women love tracing them on her back after cracking about Mario and Luigi. Now that she’s home she’s thinking about letting Araceli or Marco pull it all together someway to fill in the space but she hasn’t decided if that’s what she wants.
Ella’s right arm is mainly a full sleeve with a flower design (like the bottom left in the second picture.) It was done fully by @aracelifuentesx during winter break of her Junior year of college. There’s this growing hc I have of Ella getting a tattoo every holiday break but also coming home random days out of the year for like a day and a half just to get tattoo from Araceli or Marco. But the flowers on her right arm have petals with the initials of her sisters and her parents. It’s part of why she only wanted Celi to do it, because it was too intimate for her to just trust anyone with. She calls it her Cooper Arm, at least to herself. @jennaxcooper
Her left arm is also basically covered but in several different pieces. The husky tattoo of Zeus and a few others such as the globe, butterfly and karma tattoo were done by @marcovarela. The ‘There Better Be Dogs’ and other random pieces were done by artist in New York and a few stick and pokes she got done when studying abroad and was obviously trying to impress a girl. In NY she and @lottiegardner got matching tattoos, Ella likely got hers on her forearm. Tattoo to be decided <3 On the inside of her left wrist, she has a small sketch of a heart with a lock in the center that the artist drew in the shape of an ‘E’. Most people assume it’s for Ella but it’s actually for @evieblmnt. She got it a few weeks after they broke up before she left for college.She asked Marco to do it and say nothing while he was. She’s still proud of him for staying quiet that entire time.
The sun and moon tattoo in the top right of the last picture is a good representation of the thigh piece Ella has on her left thigh. Another piece done by Araceli, but this time when she visited her in New York and both of them didn’t want the weekend to end. The tattoo with the ass and the skateboard are on the back of her calves, yes she has two, but one of them is in color and the other is in black. The underwear in the color one is red. She has an incomplete piece on her right thigh, wanting to continue the theme of the flowers from her right arm but the bird/phoenix theme has won her over. She’s hoping to tie it all together soon. It will likely go down her calf and out to the top of her foot. She jokes a lot about having plenty of time but limited space.
The ‘live free’ tattoo with the chain link fence is likely something she got the summer she spent dating @cassgalo.
The tattoos on her hands were the first ones she ever got when she was in high school, much to Anna’s shock. In the year following her parents death, Ella’s general personality and day to day life took a dark dive. She started with her hands because they were the most visible to her and could serve as a reminder to her of what she needed to hold onto. Despite being underage, she convinced Araceli to do it for her, the pain of the tattoo a healthier way of dealing with all of the pain she was feeling inside. Or so she thought. The branches were the start of what would eventually become her full sleeve and it’s high likely she has something like the ‘dreamin of you’ tattoo on the top of her hand. She likely has something that replicates her mother’s handwriting from the lunch notes she used to write for her. One hand with her mother’s writing and the other with her father’s. People usually assume it’s from some book and she just shrugs it off and says they’re from her two favorite writers. She also has a little bell on the inside of her ring finger on the hand with her father’s right (right hand) because he used to call her Ella Bells.
