“You’re a doctor, of course you’re good with people!” Looking over at colleague, Jiya simply shook her head. “I’m good with patients, asking people for money, yeah, no, not happening, can’t do it.” Shaking her head, Jiya blew out a breath and took a decent sized gulp of her champagne. If she didn’t get it together, she’d never secure a donation to her department. “Okay, fine, I’m going. Who am I talking to?” Scanning the room as her colleague pointed to a tall, blonde man on the other side of the room, Jiya nodded. “Just a normal conversation, I got this.”

Smoothing her dress down as she walked across the room of the marquee that had been erected just outside of the hospital, Jiya smiled as she reached the man, holding her hand out. “I know it’s a hospital fundraiser but surely it’s more fun than you look like you’re having? I haven’t seen you around before so I’m guessing you’re not a doctor? Jiya Padyar, nice to meet you.”

With Dixie at the groomers and Ellie distracted enough to drag her away from all of the new things she had gotten for her birthday, Beth had bundled them into their coats, into the car before hotfooting it over to her brother’s house. Although they had seen each other at their parents house at various times, Beth couldn’t be sure she’d had any one-on-one time with her brother since that early morning in the kitchen after Maddie had gone missing. It was only a short drive, thankfully for Beth’s sanity as Ellie put her favourite song on repeat once again, just as they pulled up on the driveway. 

Helping Ellie out of the car and to the front door, Beth used the key she had ‘for emergencies only’ to open the door and let herself in, calling out, “It’s me, it’s totally an emergency so don’t yell at me for using my key. Don’t ask what the emergency is though.” Closing the door behind them, Beth took off their coats before leading them through and out of the hallway. “Cal? Your niece is present so please be presentable.”

– “HEY-O, BIRTHDAY GUY...HAVE A GOOD FLIGHT?” CLAIRE ASKS, sliding into the seat next to callum at their orientation for the internship. hopefully raina or someone wasn’t planning on sitting there – oh well. “ dunno if i mentioned it, but...i went and saw maggie over the break, ” claire says, referring to her mom. cal’s probably seen it on her instagram, but they didn’t really TALK about it at all. though her mom asked about callum a lot, so...better to bring it up sooner rather than later. “ she sent you some stuff, it’s back in my room...i got you something too, but i didn’t go ALL OUT like she did, so. lower your expectations. ”
