“what  kind  of  ideas  do  you  have  ??  usually  whenever  friends  of  mine  that  ask  for  an  opinion  they  kind  of  have  a  pinterest  board  saved  down  or  have  some  episode  of  one  of  those  hgtv  shows  as  a  reference,”  charlie  starts  as  he  sits  down  at  their  claimed  table  at  latte  love,  placing  dilara’s  drink  in  front  of  her  and  his  beside  his  notebook.  the  firm  in  chicago  that  charlie  worked  at  specialized  in  commercial  designs  and  while  that  meant  his  experience  in  home  design  was  far  and  few  between,  it  wasn’t  all  that  much  different  in  the  grand  scheme  of  things.  it  was  definitely  more  fun  —  that’s  for  sure.  less  chrome  and  harsh  modern  lines,  and  ample  room  to  make  a  space  more  personable  and  open.  not  to  mention  the  petty  side  of  him  found  enjoyment  in  helping  out  fellow  blue  harbor  friends  when  the  turf  for  so  long  was  relegated  to  his  father.  charlie  fiddles  with  his  pen  as  his  macchiato  cools  down  enough  that  it  won’t  burn  his  tongue  for  days  on  end.  “if  not  then  that’s  cool  too.  we  can  just  brainstorm  a  few  ideas  of  what  you  have  in  mind  or  think  you  might  wanna  try  and  go  from  there.”

The parties at Dilara’s house and Medusa weren’t enjoyable for Charlotte. She had been convinced to come as a distraction, but her heart wasn’t in it. All she could think of was how the town was partying like there was no tomorrow, while her own brother was sitting in a gloomy, dirty prison cell. That made her leave Medusa early into the night, seeking her own solitude and giving in to some of her fears and negative thoughts. It had been cathartic in a way, letting it all out after bottling it in. It’s been a couple of days since the party, and she hasn’t heard from her friend since then, which is odd. However, the reminder that her vile ex husband was in town and had the audacity to come to her home and how Dilara had checked up on her multiple times in the past few weeks has Charlotte standing at her door with her own bottle of expensive wine and some chocolate. “You’re not the only one who gets to come over with wine and a bag of sugary stuff.” She gives her a small smile, but she can note the tiredness in the redhead’s eyes. “Come on, we’re due for a nice glass of wine, yeah? I heard about Cameron… and the party.”

The time in between finding out who made it and who didn’t had been the most excruciating and the longest. She’s not sure how long she’s been in the hospital. She hasn’t been able to sleep or eat, all she was thinking of were the people who got hurt, the people who died, people she knew so well and people she considered dear to her heart. Gracia was no stranger to the concept of death. She never really properly processed or dealt with her mother’s death. It left a void in her, and now, it seems like this void is growing. She looks over at Dilara as she comes back to sit next to her. “Hey,” she says quietly. “I’m really grateful that you’re alive and sitting here.” A sigh, tears brimming her eyes. “I don’t know what I’d do if you got hurt.”

“Thank you for convincing me to come to this thing,” she says, handing her best friend a drink. At first, Gracia was hesitant about coming, leaning more towards staying home. She wasn’t exactly in a party mood after everything that happened not too long ago. But now that she’s seen and seeing everyone in high spirits, maybe this is what everyone needed, just an escape and a break to detach from the hardships they’ve had to endure (and are still enduring). “I promise from now on, I won’t be so hesitant and I’ll immediately agree to anything you say,” she jokes lightly, because they both know that while this is a lot easier said than done for for Gracia, she’s actually trying to be a little more open and not closed off.
