Gracia was born to Arturo and Margarita in a household that was anything but stable. She doesn’t recall a time her parents got along for longer than a few hours before another fight ensued. The end of these fights was when Arturo packed his bags and left the family and Hidehill for good, never looking back. Gracia, aged six, had seen it all and till today, she remembers every single moment of that day. Her father hadn’t attempted to get in contact with her since then.

Margarita didn’t remain single for long, no. Gracia lost count of the number of men that came in and out of their lives, never long enough for her mother to get married. Single or not, their mother was a deadbeat, simply put. Margarita kept a social life full of drinking and partying, often leaving Gracia and her older sister Emilia alone for several days a week when they were kids. The drinking never stopped. If she was not drinking on outings, she was drinking at home. The only bright side to the tumultuous upbringing and environment is, to this day, her sister, the person who means the absolute world to her.

Both sisters grew up too quickly, having not to only take care of themselves, but of each other, the house and their alcoholic mother. The family struggled with making ends meet, and it didn’t help that Margarita didn’t bother to work after getting fired, so it was Emilia who got a job and supported the family till Gracia reached her teen years and began helping out with the income.

Gracia’s only escape back then was ballet dancing, one of the few similarities the sisters have. To ensure free classes for both, Emilia had worked in the dance studio. And when Gracia started working, the pressure fell on her to maintain the jobs she was working, as her sister had trouble keeping a stable job for long. Eventually, no matter how much she worked, she couldn’t afford dancing lessons, because she had to save up for college, and instead, she began to practice on her own.

While Emilia grew up to be the more outspoken, angry and boisterous of the two, Gracia grew up to be the shy, demure, and introverted sister. The list of differences between the two are never ending, but Gracia knows for a fact that the sisters would go to hell and back for one another.

Gracia’s always been positive she wants to leave Hidehill with her sister. If her and her sister have any chance of a good and normal life, they knew they had to leave when they had enough money to do so. For that reason, she worked her hardest at school, ensuring high grades in hopes she’ll be able to leave for college. When she secured a scholarship in California, she ended up rejecting it and settling on college in Hidehill, not wanting to leave without Emilia.

Nevertheless, her goal did not change and it only solidified even more when tragedy struck at twenty-two and she and Emilia found their mother’s dead body in the trailer due to excessive drinking and alcohol poisoning. To say she’s traumatized by it would be an understatement.

Now that she’s been working at the school since she graduated, she’s still working on saving up money for both her and her sister, in hopes she’ll be able to go to grad school in another state, and finally get the life she and her sister deserve. She tutors on the side as well for extra money.

PERSONALITY.

Gracia is timid, demure and reserved. She’ll only easily talk to someone when she’s comfortable enough around them. Either way, she’s very soft spoken, can’t say no to anyone and will help anyone who needs it. She refuses to ask for help from anyone and will only rely on her sister if it comes to it. She’s very cautious, the type to think twice before she acts or speaks and lives in her own bubble, too scared to attempt new things. Despite being so silent and introverted, she has a mind that is always working and full of thoughts. She hates having free time. She works a lot, hellbent on building a good future for both her and her sister. A lot of times, when she gets distracted, she tends to get dreamy, wishing for the life she never had.

“I don’t know why you find that hard to believe,” the words leave him in a cold tone. He thinks about the day he had to message the forum to inform people that they had to say goodbye to Nancy and not a single person really tried to reach out or say anything in that stupid messaging thing instead everyone muted the chat and moved on with their lives while he still had to make that decision to let go of his sister. “Sure,” he mutters, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his pack of cigarettes, opening them and pulling out a stick. He places it between his lips and starts walking  to the bar.

Nash’s cold tone makes her go a little quiet, just watching his expression as if trying to read him. She doesn’t fault him for it, especially when he’s going through something unimaginable and brutal and cruel. He’s excused, as far as she’s concerned. She didn’t know what she’d do if she ever lost her sister. She would become a shell of herself at the very least. She walks with him to the bar, looking up at him as he pulls out a cigarette. “Those are bad for your health, you know,” she blurts out before she could properly think of her words. Of course he knew smoking was bad. He probably doesn’t care. When they reach the bar, she finds the first empty seats and goes to sit. She feels like an outsider whenever she’s in a bar. “What do you usually drink?”

While he knew her words to be true, that didn’t make it any easier. For ten years, he had been on his own, forgoing any future he could’ve, might’ve had otherwise in order to take care of his mom. While he had an emergency fund tucked away, there was still that fear in him, scratching with a nagging reminder that he needed the hours, he needed the money, the bills needed to be paid. “Well, whatever it is, I don’t like it.” It was almost comical how much of a hypocrite he felt. How often he had complained about working this job before and how desperate he was to get back to it now. He’d have signed up to make a thousand of those milkshakes if that’s what it took. “I didn’t say they weren’t great,” he corrected her, “just that it’s nothing special. I mean, milk, ice cream, this case chocolate sauce, whipped cream.” He raised his eyebrows, a silent way of saying it wasn’t that difficult. Or maybe it just hadn’t been given all the practice under his belt. At Gracia’s suggestion, Crawford shook his head. “No. No, can’t be feeding his ego. Next thing you know he’ll go full blown Bobby Flay.”

“I know,” she acknowledges his words. “But it’s not forever, right?” She gives him a soft smile. It was easier said than done, certainly. She knew what it was like being so independent to the point that the idea of needing people made your stomach turn. Gracia had to grow up way before her age. Her mom was only around physically, till she wasn’t, and Gracia and her sister had to do everything themselves for as long as they could remember. She shakes her head feigning disappointment. “They are both great and special. You know, simple things can be great. Like milkshake!” She presses her forefinger to the counter, as if she just make a huge point. She laughs lightly at his words. “Come on, people like hearing nice things every now and then. He’ll be the Bobby Flay of milkshakes.”

Sciel had spent the entire night before thinking of a way to get his daughter out of the house. With the recent mass murders and the text messages that had reached his phone he was rather unnerved in the town. He was always careful when he want out, specially with his two year old child. Who knew what was really out here, or rather who was out there committing all of these murders. Sometimes he felt as though it was all Karma for taking himself and his daughter away from the rest of his toxic family, but then would regret the thought due to the amount of pain that these families here must be going through.

“Hello, there” Sciel spoke, as he made his way towards a bench at the park. He figured he’d just sit tight and watch his daughter play for a bit before taking her for some ice cream then back home.

Maybe she shouldn’t be out alone, in light of recent events, even if it was in broad daylight. Safety was no longer a sure and guaranteed thing for the townspeople. She had finished running her errands and decided to enjoy the quietness and the calmness that came with the park. At least she hoped that would happen. She sits quietly, lost in her own thoughts and head. She always got distracted whenever she was alone. “Hm?” She blinks and looks up. “Hi, I’m sorry. Um, did you want to sit here? You’re welcome to, of course.”

Olivia was sat lost in thought. She had her knees pulled up close to her chest and a cigarette dangling in between her fingers. Smoking was a habit that she kept to herself, other than the looks she got when someone could smell a bit of it on her, people didn’t really know this about her. It was late enough at time that she thought she’d be in the clear to have a smoke outside in the park. Nearly jumping out of her skin when a voice came out of the darkness beside her. Looking up at the person who had approached, she did her best to let her eyes adjust to the darkness around them so she could see who it was. “Sorry, I didnae think anyone came out here this late.” She put her cigarette out in the grass beneath her, trying to play it off as she wasn’t doing anything. “Ye scared the piss outta me though.”

Gracia’s not sure why she decided to come to Reign Park so late. She only ever came here during daylight. She just didn’t want to be back at the trailer right now. Granted, she hardly ever liked being there. She’s about to turn around when she spots a familiar figure from afar, squinting slightly to see better. She quietly approaches the figure, confirming that it’s Olivia. She smiles. Gracia didn’t mind sitting alone for the most part; however, she would always prefer sitting with someone else if the option is there. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you, Liv,” she tells her good friend, moving to sit next to her. “I don’t usually come out here this late, so I don’t know.” She shrugs. “Are you doing okay?”

She wanted her friend to look her in the eyes and tell her she was wrong. “Nothing yet,” she answered, shaking her head. “I need a new little black dress though. Mine now just feels so…” Gen wobbled her head, her eyes flicking skyward, shifting back and forth, the description tangible yet floating around her, just out of reach. She hummed softly, capturing one word, though it didn’t feel exactly like the right one. “Basic?”

See, that was the issue, Gracia didn’t have the confidence Imogen was talking about. She’s always been a very self conscious individual who overthought everything she did and didn’t enjoy being perceived. Though, Imogen’s words make her laugh lightly. Imogen always talked freely and openly, it was nice. She wishes she was a little more like that. “You’re amazing, please. As for this confidence you speak of, maybe someday, I don’t know.” She shrugs lightly, referring to herself of course. “Oh, I think I saw a black mini dress somewhere. Follow me, I remember were it is. I think it’ll look great on you.” She links her arm with the brunette’s and heads towards the section and takes out the dress. “Here it is. Do you think it’s something you would like?”

“These are my plans,” he assured her, even shifting on the bar stool so he settled in better, asserting that this was where he planned to be for the next however long. “Yea, most probably. I just… I don’t know, don’t like feeling helpless.” Crawford had made it this far on his own, no dad at his side, mom unable to. It felt like a badge of honor in the same way it felt like a hindrance, a hurdle. But it was his hurdle. “It’s a milkshake,” Crawford responded dryly, a short laugh following, “I’d hope someone didn’t fuck it up.” He leaned back to grab a fresh straw from one of the countertop caddies, before sticking it into the shake and giving it a sip. “Think that man’s good at his job.”

“Okay.” She nods, his words make her smile, one that reaches her eyes. “I understand where you’re coming from, but you’re not hopeless, Crawford... you’re just recovering from something awful. Soon enough you’ll be back in full force.” Recovery needed patience and time, and something it wasn’t easy, so she understood him wholeheartedly. She doesn’t like depending on people in any way or form; she hates burdening them with her own issues when everyone’s battling their own, even though she’s always ready to help everyone. The list of people she would depend on if it ever came to it is small. It’s the people she trusted with her life. “It’s a milkshake? Milkshakes are great, excuse me,” she says with a light tone, feigning being shocked at his words. “I heard that person makes the best ones in town, you know.” She rests on hand on the counter, her cheek in her palm, giggling lightly at his words. “Yeah? “Okay so like.. what about Creep or one of those Wrong Turn movies? They’re usually fucked up” Heather suggested as she looked up at her friend, her hands still folding clothes and placing them in her bag slowly. Heather absolutely loved her movie nights when she was younger with Gracia, they would often keep her out of trouble or at some house party that she’d get too drunk at. “Yeah, it will feel weird but I’m sure she’d be laughing at us from up there as she watched us freak out over the movie.” She knew it would be small every day things that would hit her the most. “He does” her features softened as she spoke about Jordan, a small smile on her lips. “He’s just so sweet to me.. I would never have thought he would be for some reason. Obviously I knew of him, I knew Sebastian his cousin.. I saw him around school and I didn’t think we would have ever been together or that he would be this caring.” She rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders “anyway..” she dismissed the conversation. “Okay well I can keep a lot of this here and just take a few things, I need things in both places in case of emergencies you know?”

“Let’s go with Creep? I think there’s one sequel for that one, so maybe we start with that before we move onto the Wrong Turn movies.” She doesn’t know much about the movies beyond the fact that they were disturbing and since they want to have a full fledged horror movie night, they might as well go for something like that. “She’ll definitely be laughing at us. She’ll be entertained watching us hide behind our blankets.” It was hard losing Brandi, she was like an older sister to Gracia as well, but maybe they needed to hold onto the good memories to properly cope with that. Of course, it’s harder on Heather, but her friend’s always been strong. She watches Heather talk about Jordan with a smile on her face; she liked hearing people talk about their partners, the way their whole face lights up when they do. “Sometimes life has a way to surprise you, right? And bring people you most likely expect into your life.” She nods, brows furrowed. “Emergencies? Like what?”

“i’d try t-talking to her but she just…you know, she’d always dismiss it, gracia.” lennox looks down, recalling the times cherry would repeat father’s teachings to her whenever she’s done something that is against their beliefs. it was at this point that it should be clear to the other that lennox doesn’t want to be part of what they’ve left anymore, but it obviously was a hard pill to swallow that what she always does is to understand her. “waffles just have those little pockets for syrup or butter or other things.” she shrugs. “maybe i’ll have some waffles tomorrow, or we could share?”

“I’m so sorry she’s dismissing you.” She wants to say that Lennox doesn’t deserve such a treatment, that Cherry should be more open and listen to her friend, but she worries she’ll make things worse on the girls, it’s not her place to interfere, even if Lennox was the one to tell her. She just hopes Cherry grows to be more accepting and understanding with her. “I’ve seen something online once, someone added corn and maple syrup... I could never, but it goes to show you can go for anything as toppings, really,” she says. “Oh, we can definitely share. Best of both worlds.”

       how quickly things change. theresa sat down on the bench, gently holding the area where she had been stabbed at. the ‘club envy massacre’ seemingly became a thing of the past with what had happened now — a house blew up, killing three innocent people. her mother coming home early was a sign that something serious had happened, and when she looked at the news, it confirmed it. it also confirmed that there was, in fact, another shadow. hearing the sirens sent shivers down her spine and gave her flashbacks to when everything happened with her. now, here she was, looking at the flowers as she tried to contemplate everything that had gone down.     “ this town truly is just… fucking wonderful, isn’t it? ” note sarcasm. she crossed her legs, moving a strand of hair from her face. “ how are you holding up? ”

Gracia still hasn’t properly registered the horrific news. Things were supposedly over, the town was supposedly safe, no more murderers roaming town striking fear and dread. How is this happening again, how are they reliving the nightmare? Gracia’s always tried to look at the bright side, find hope wherever it may be; however, for the longest time, she felt Hidehill was simply cursed, and the recent killings were more proof of that. Three more people, gone, just like that. “I feel like... I’m living a recurrent nightmare, you know, like you just can’t wake up from it.” She stops talking here, not wanting to burden someone else with her own negative thoughts. “What about you? How are you holding up?”

“I don’t know, Gracie, the school year will end and you might have to worry about them telling the younger ones about you,” he joked again, fully knowing it was beyond far from the truth. Jae definitely had a certain respect for her being a teacher, he didn’t think it was something he could ever do. “I don’t think they’re really that scary. Most animals can sense what people feel, so as long as you’re calm, most of them are usually fine. I can’t say snakes are my favorite though,” he replied, nodding at her following words. He did wonder if Hidehill would ever be the same, something that sounded pretty far fetched at the moment. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, animals naturally love me, Ollie included.” The corner of his lips turned upwards as he spoke.  “I’ll remember that, really.”

“I always thought my high school teachers were a little bit too strict.” Her eyes widen slightly at the thought of some student badmouthing her to another before she shakes her head with a smile. She hopes her students don’t think she’s too serious. She tries to balance it out to the best of her abilities. “I don’t think I’d ever be able to touch a snake or even stand in close proximity, but I’m just a coward.” She giggles. “Though, it is your job, so you know what you’re doing and I suppose you shouldn’t really be scared of anything. Have you ever dealt with a pet spider?” she wonders. “Oh! Ollie can sense whenever I’m stressed or feeling a little down... he comes up to cuddle.” Her eyes grow ten times softer at the words. “You bribe Ollie with good stuff, Dr. Lee! Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing.” She does the I’m watching you sign, laughing. “Good. You already know you’re welcome any time.”
