Oh I actually have an answer for that, Fuji would adore Itachi and the idea of him being the one to do the deed would devastate her. Fuji has a massive soft spot for kids even if she’s too much of a pushover to be considered *good* with them and Itachi’s gentle nature would make her especially sweet on him. I think she sees a lot of herself in him in a way that would make her very sad.
(And if she survived long enough to think about it well. Fuji was with the mission desk for a long *long* time. And her specialty has always been as a profiler for assignments….)

Itachi existing in some sort of blind spot for her, as one of Konoha's most experienced and longest lived profilers, is actually so fun and tragic. Love it !! It's always those with the ability to see it coming, who are blindsided the hardest because they don't think to look closely enough at those closest to them. Womp womp!
