he had been out all night on a job, knuckles bruised, lip busted and hair damp with sweat as he pushed open the door of his apartment. meg showed up a little bit after he got there, but all he could give her was a muttered, “i’m really not in the mood for bullshit tonight.” because he was entirely spent, making his way straight for the bathroom as he yanked his shirt over his head, tossing it on the ground as he turned his shower on. nothing eased his mind like a long and hot shower, and as he stepped under the warm water, he closed his eyes with a heavy sigh. it wasn’t like he always enjoyed being in a gang, sometimes he wished he wasn’t so reckless, that he could lead a normal life and be a normal person, but life had dealt him these cards and here was where they took him. at the sound of a rustling outside of the shower curtain, he knitted his brows before the curtain drew back and meg stepped in, “look i just..” but he couldn’t get words out, and instead, he motioned to the shampoo bottle, “can you pass me that?”

While JD knew that Meg was a headstrong woman, but he also knew that even the strongest of women struggled time to time, case and point; his mother. So when he heard a knock on his door, one that was urgent and followed by the sound of her voice, he felt the way his brows drew together in a crease as he went to open the door. There she stood, soaking wet from the downpour outside, tears in her eyes as a panicked look took over her face. She was talking about something to do with a job she was went on, and he held his hand up, “Since when did you get involved in this stuff?” He was quick to ask, but that wasn’t the point, and as she broke down he felt the urge to reach out. So that’s what he did, reached out to pull her into his apartment, wrapping his arms around her to just hold her while she had a moment of weakness. Even JD, being the dick he could be, wouldn’t hold this against her...this was serious, and he couldn’t fault her for the fear that overcame her.

“EXCUSE ME, I GOTTA STEAL HER, for a second. that’s all he says to whoever meg was talking to as he smirk, watching the person slink away with ease, smirking a bit as he eyed the girl. at this point, he was several drinks strong and while he was confident without alcohol, it was magnified now. casting his gaze down onto the slightly familiar face, he offered her an unopened drink, “fancy running into you here.”

"Okay, grinch.” Hercules teased her, nudging her as he walked past her to get to the stereo. He had a tendency to go all out every year for the holidays, at least since he returned home. It was to make up for all the years that he was away from his family. “Why do you hate holiday cheer so much?” @noturnutmeg

ABOUT MEG: “Chick is always a wildcard, never know if she’s going to bite my head off or jump my bones but...she’s not all that bad. I like the spice, keeps me on my toes, plus she’s really smart and seems to be able to take care of herself.”

mabel always gave her heart out. she’d fall in love with everyone she’d ever met, even just a little bit, and with that, a piece of her heart went, too. on sleepless nights, nights where she was too wired to rest, mabel would stare at her ceiling and wondered if it was a finite resource-- if one day, she would run dry of all the love and affection because she gave it out willy nilly. when mabel first met meg, she thought the other didn’t like her. she was a lot to deal with, and meg seemed so closed off, she gripped everything about her close. so mabel began to give her heart. a little bit at a time. she’d give meg a safe space. she’d let her open up when she felt comfortable to. she’d be affectionate but not too affectionate. lingering touches, snuck glances. soon, mabel had an answer to her question. if she gave her full heart away, it only grew, it filled with content and warm feelings and sad feelings, because hers’ now beat with another’s, and she had more than ever to give.
