where: alecto and rabastan's dungeon.
when: weeks ago.
mention: rabastan; @r-lestrcnge.
It was time for Georgette to start proving herself instead of just using words. She had to walk the walk. She was terrified. She didn't know what Rabastan had in store for her. He had simply said that she was now being put to the test and had to gain information from an unwilling subject, that the traitor had attacked one of their own, Cavan O'Dell, and they needed to know why. Georgette’s stomach was in knots, unsure of what she would do or where she would start began swimming through her mind. She wanted to impress Rabastan but doubt started to cling to her mind. She shook her head. No. She could do this. She was too far in now. She had to do this.
Rabastan ushered Georgette to he and Alecto's dungeon. It was cold yet there was something familiar about it but she had no idea why. The slab in the middle of the room sent a chill up her spine. She could hardly look at it without feeling uncomfortable. Luckily that's not where the prisoner was being held. They walked a small distance to a woman tied up in a chair. Georgette bent at the hip and stared in her eyes which were filled with hate. "Who are you?" There was no response. She bolstered her voice, "I said what's your name?" Still silence. This wasn't going to be easy. "Isla Dankworth," Rabastan said. Georgette turned to him and nodded but was destroyed that she couldn't even get the name out of the woman. It wasn't a good place to start.
Start over, she told herself. Georgette took out her wand and placed it on Isla's throat. She began to walk in a circle around the chair with the wand tracing all the way around. She said nothing to the traitor. When she got back to her face she lifted the wand beneath Isla's chin causing the witch to lean her head backwards. Georgette flicked her wand out from beneath her chin and spun away from her. Something about the interaction was thrilling. Not saying a word but sensing a bit of fear was exciting. She was surprised.
She snapped back around and looked Isla in the eye, only this time the hate in Georgette's mind surpassed that of her prisoner. She wasn't going to let this woman get the better of her. No, she was going to get her to talk. She crossed her arms, wand still in hand, not taking her eyes off Isla. “I hear you attacked one in the ranks.” The scum laughed. “I’ll take that as a yes,” she said coolly. “Now why would anyone do that?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” slipped from the witch’s lips.
“Ah, so you had every right? What did they do to you?”
There was silence. Was she going to stop talking? Not now. Please not now. “It must have been pretty terrible for you to leave O'Dell the way you did, lying there writhing on the ground.”
“He deserved it!” she yelled.
With a small sneer Georgette asked, “But why? What could one of us have done that was so bad? I know it must have been awful,” she tried using an empathy card even though she had none for the witch.
“It was,” she pulled against her chains. Georgette fought the urge to jump back. “He called me a muggle lover. Accused me of having an affair with a muggle. As if I would do such a thing! He kept going and going. I couldn’t stop myself!” Georgette found herself laughing. It caught Isla off guard. She had just poured her heart out and there the newest Death Eater recruit was laughing at her. “Couldn’t take the heat? Usually there’s truth in that kind of madness,” she quirked her brow.
“No truth!” her voice cracked.
“You’re lucky I have no truth serum," she paused, "You might say I have an inkling to believe him with the way you describe the incident. So much fire. And obviously thinking you wouldn’t get caught. How stupid of you.”
“I — I —“ Isla stuttered. “Please —“
“Now you’re asking for mercy? There is no mercy here. You attacked someone worthwhile, leaving him for dead. That won’t stand.”
Georgette circled Isla again, wand out fluttering through the other’s scraggly hair. “Now what to do with you?” She genuinely wondered and couldn’t believe what she was thinking. When she reached Isla’s face she leaned in close, placing her wand on the witch’s forehead. “Crucio!” and watched her writhe in pain. A shocking smile crept on Georgette’s face, pleased with what she had done. Was it enough? She didn’t know but she had fun and figured out that she may very well have been where she ought to be.
