– “OKAY, I’M READY,” ricky says, bouncing back and forth on his feet on the mat. “ though i didn’t wear my skirt, just sweatpants for today – next time, though, i’m going full magical girl, ” he tells her, though he’s just saying it to be ridiculous. still, he’s a bit nervous about all of this just because he doesn’t want to hit her, he doesn’t know if he CAN, like, ethically.

– CLASSES ARE THE NEXT MORNING, BUT NATURALLY, ricky’s still awake. he doesn’t always have so much trouble sleeping, but he’s actually sort of nervous and he can’t help but think about his dad. there are a lot of students here that could probably tell him more about blackthorne, but ricky’s not even sure what he wants to know, if anything. he’s sitting on the roof, just trying to clear his head when he hears the door to the fire escape creak behind him. he turns his head slightly, catching her eye. “ couldn’t sleep either ? ”
