The return of the eldest of the Taylor siblings had prompted a Thanksgiving-like feast at the Taylor household to which the entire family was invited. And for once it brought to light all the ways in which their family wasn’t the cliche. With four generations under one roof, there was bound to be conflict and trouble, but not for them. Even their parents who had gotten divorced a long time ago could happily spend time together. Heck, they actually enjoyed each other’s company more than they did before. And Amy’s heart swelled at the sight of the people gathered at the table in the back yard, gentle outdoor lights slowly flickering on as the day drew to an end.
“God, I have not eaten this much since... I don’t remember how long,” Amy groaned with her hand on her stomach as she crossed the yard towards the swing sofa on the patio where Wes was already lounging. “Scoot over,” she ordered with a pat to his knee.

The family dinner, with all the parents and parental figures, and their descendants in tow, was drawing to an end. The chore wheel had spoken, and Wes and Amy were assigned dish duty that night. The dishwasher was loaded up with the glasses, plates and cutlery, but the big things couldn’t fit, so it was with the faint buzzing of the appliance in the background that they tended to the pots and pans used in cooking, Amy with her hands in the sink, Wes with a rag in hands, ready to polish. “Okay, but, have you figured out Bill’s bachelor party? Because you know they’re counting on you to find them something fun to do,” Amy teased, a grin spilling over her lips. At least their mom was happy with a spa weekend for her bachelorette party, which had solved the dilemma before Bree and Amy had even had a chance to have it.

By the time news about the latest tragedy to hit those near and dear to her reached Amy, dawn was already breaking through on the horizon. She had spent a blissfully ignorant night at her family home, babysitting Jake and bonding with the little boy that still saw her as a stranger, and not someone who was a true part of the family. To his credit, he tried to get to know Amy and wanted to hear about where she’s been, and she found it easier to tell him things about her past than she did anyone else. Kids didn’t judge as much, right? None of that held any importance when her phone rang at five AM, pulling her out of her peaceful slumber with urgency and demand that unsettled her insides. Nothing good ever happened at that hour, and it was with dread and a shaky voice that Amy responded to her father’s call, already imagining a scenario in which Aubrey had ended up in another accident, due to her downward spiral because of the first. But it wasn’t her sister’s name that left her father’s lips. It was the name Maya Chang whispered in a hushed and tired voice that had Amy jumping out of her bed and packing up to go to the hospital, just in time as their father came back to look after the clueless boy sleeping soundly in the next room.
Her father had relayed the cliff notes to her before she was on her way, driving down the empty streets to the hospital, foot applying pressure on the gas pedal all along. She hadn’t been in town long enough to get to know Maya as well as she would have liked, but she knew her well enough to understand the chaos that would ensue, and the heartbreak both the young woman and her brother would suffer through. They had a long way ahead of them, undoubtedly, and Amy cursed at the higher powers dictating their lives─ would they ever get a break? As soon as she set foot in the hospital, Amy moved on muscle memory alone, legs carrying her down the same hallways she had walked during Aubrey’s stay there. Back then, at least she was welcomed with better news, a more optimistic outcome in sight. This time around, she was greeted by grim faces of firefighters and policemen that swarmed the waiting room. None of them were her brother or sister, so Amy pushed on, searching for one of them or at least someone who could send her in the right direction. It didn’t take long until she spotted her two younger siblings, sitting down next to each other, silently staring ahead. What was there to say, anyway? There was a tension in the air, one that wasn’t the sole result of the accident, but they still looked more like a family than Amy ever did with them. She was the piece of the jigsaw puzzle that just couldn’t fit anywhere, hard as she tried. But now wasn’t the time to think about her own role in all of it, and she dragged her feet closer to the two of them, speaking in a soft voice that was bound to startle them.
“Dad just called, I heard what happened,” she began, chewing on her lip as tears already began to form in her eyes. "Are there any news?”
A sex tape just landed in your hands... and you get to watch! Who would you not mind seeing in action?
“Wouldn’t mind seeing Cem in action since I never got the whole experience. Or Weston. But maybe that’s more because me being able to tell my boss I’ve seen him naked when he gives me a hard time about being late feels like having the upper hand…”

"I'm glad elise is here to get him out of his shell." evangeline mused as she watched her son, his dark curls popping out against the pastels of the outfit she had fought him into this morning. the boy followed his cousin diligently, her own little shadow as the searched around. "he has barely left my side all day and refused to participate in any other activities without me also participating in the same activity." her eyes moved over to her twin, a smile forming on her face. "remind you of anyone?"

🍗 Were they a picky eater? Is there anything they refused to eat?
"oh, horribly so! though, I never had the bravery to admit I didn't particularly enjoy anything on my plate so I have to commend wes for usually eating whatever I didn't want."
