Folks, we've smashed all of our previous records to smithereens: this year, we have 1,223 unique creators offering 1647 fanworks in the auction.

It's going to take us a couple of weeks to process all of those signups and set up the auction; you can look for browsing period to open on February 21st.

Fandom Trumps Hate Action is a project we are (re)starting to help FTH participants get involved in meatspace activism. In addition to offering guidance on manageable, concrete actions you can take in your own community, we'll be offering reading guides, conversations with organizers, and much more. Our first event is this Tuesday (tomorrow night!)

And that's just the beginning: we've got lots more cool shit in the pipeline that we'll be rolling out over the next few weeks.

We hope you'll give @fthaction a follow and join us in this work as we build out the project and figure out new ways to fight for a better world together. We think -- we hope -- that this is the beginning of something special, and we hope you'll come be a part of it.

Our next Activist AMA is coming up!

Join us Tuesday, April 15th at 9:00 Eastern/6:00 Pacific for an AMA with Wendy Via, CEO and Co-Founder of Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. We're extremely honored to host Wendy on the FTH Action Discord Server.

We'll talk over video with Wendy about GPAHE's mission, her history as an activist, and the kinds of things we can do to get involved or support their work.

We will have some questions ready, but we also want to ask yours! You can leave a question as a comment on this post, or you can bring it with you to the AMA on Tuesday.

GPAHE was on of FTH's supported orgs for 2025. GPAHE believes that to protect and advance human rights, particularly those of marginalized and underrepresented communities, build inclusive democracies, and solve global challenges, we must expose and counter the far-right actors and movements that undermine those values. GPAHE exposes and disrupts racist and other hateful transnational movements, holds tech companies accountable, advocates for policies to eradicate hate and far-right extremism, and builds multinational coalitions to protect communities.

bingo week fuck yeah

I am doing the thing! And in order to keep track of it myself and to make sure I don't fall off the wagon midweek, I am posting my @fthaction bingo card here:

My goal for this week is to get a strikethrough along the top line. (I went to one of the Hands Off! protests downtown today, so even though it's a few days early, I am gonna give myself the top right square.) But I am also going to make it a personal goal to black out the entire card by the end of May.

Some of these are things I do regularly; others are things that are on my radar and which I mean to do frequently, but only get around to doing very occasionally or not at all; some are things I've never done at all. But I like the idea of all of these, and I am going to try to use this card to push myself.

Let's play Bingo!

A few months ago, as part of our blitz rollout of FTHA during the leadup to this year's auction, we shared our Activism Bingo Cards.

Now that FTH2025 has come and gone, we're getting serious....

.... WE'RE PLAYING BINGO.

The week of April 7th-13th is our first-ever BINGO WEEK here at FTHA. If you've been sort of halfway meaning to do something -- to find a way to help, to join up with others who are already doing the work, to counteract your own despair -- consider this your sign from the universe. And luckily, this sign comes with some organizational structure and a community to do it with!

How to play:

get yourself a bingo card, if you haven't already.

strategize. Which of the items on your card would be easy to knock out? How close do those items get you to bingo -- and what other tasks would you need to complete to get there?

Use the next couple of days to gear up for the more challenging tasks. This might mean making accountability plans with a friend, or procuring information or supplies, or just psyching yourself up. Whatever it is, you can do it!

Once bingo week starts, post about the things you've done! You can post a picture of your card with one or more tasks crossed off, or just make a text post in which you talk about what you did. If you tag us (fthaction) in the post, we'll reblog it! Be sure not to include sensitive information in these reports!

Tell us when you've hit bingo! We'll reblog that post too -- and we hope you'll use it to share a story about the most rewarding thing you've done along the way.

You can blacklist the tag "activism bingo" if you want to... but wouldn't it be more fun to play along instead?

Today is the day! We'll be talking to Kat Calvin of Spread the Vote and Project ID about the work she's done to help over 13,000 people overcome a range of hurdles to secure life-changing documentation.

Ask MeUs Anything!

As we announced yesterday, one of FTHA's ongoing projects is a series of conversations with activists and organizers. We're borrowing Reddit's term AMA (which stands for "ask me anything") because these won't be pre-scripted dialogues: the questions we ask will come from you.

The very first of these AMAs is TONIGHT, and our guests are... ourselves. (We wanted to test-drive this whole AMA thing before bringing in someone else!)

Are you curious about the backstory of how FTH came to be? Interested in how and why we run FTH the way we do? Wondering how we balance the nitty-gritty mechanical dimensions of running the auction (and oh boy, are there a lot of those) against our larger goals for FTH as a project? Announcing: FTHAction Organizer AMAs (starting this Tuesday!)

One of the most exciting parts (to us, anyway) of the newly-relaunched @fthaction is our organizer AMA series: a chance to be in direct conversation with some of the amazing, talented organizers who power the nonprofits supported by the auction.

As a test drive launch event, we're holding our very first AMA this Tuesday with some of our own @fandomtrumpshate organizers!

Tomorrow -- Tuesday, Feb 4th, 9pm ET/6pm PT -- you can join some of the FTH mods as we talk about running a longtime event that harnesses the power of fandom community for outward-looking activism while striving to nurture and strengthen that community, and about how we're looking to help our community move together toward meatspace activism.

This AMA will be 90 minutes long and is open to anyone who wants to attend, and will take place on the brand-new FTHA discord server (we'll be posting the link on Tuesday morning.) It will also be recorded and be archived on the FTHA site.

You can submit questions for the AMA by replying to this post! We'll also have a dedicated channel in the discord server where you can post questions during the conversation.
