So back last year when i asked for smooch prompts you gave me this one and one of them is Wedding themed, and that just matches perfectly for @ockissweek Day 4: Wedding!!!

I'll have you know my teeth got SO many cavities writing this they're infuriating (/extremely positive)

Somehow, despite all of the eyes everywhere, Davey managed to sneak out of his ready room — abandoning the cufflinks on the counter and his tie hanging loose around his neck. He walks with a confidence he doesn’t quite feel through the halls to the room set aside for Theo and fishes the key card out of his pocket to unlock the door.

He’s greeted by Merril’s wide, surprised eyes as she turns towards the door.

She opens her mouth, ready to scold him for ditching Sol somewhere along the way, but he holds a finger up to his mouth and winks. He has his foot stuck in the door to keep it from slamming shut.

“I can’t find the hair pins,” Theo calls from the other room of the suite, their voice distressed. It’s accompanied by the sound of bags and fabric rustling.

Merril quirks her brow and mouths, what the fuck?

Please? Davey mouths back.

She frowns, purses her lips, then holds out her clenched hand. Five minutes, she gestures, dropping the missing hair pins into his palm.

He mimes prayer hands and she uses the loose ends of his tie to smack him in the face before slipping out the door.

Despite his best effort to ease it shut behind her, it still does close with a distinct click.

“Merril, please don’t abandon me in my time of need,” Theo says, distress levels rising, but they don’t enter the room to check. “Unless you’re getting me another mimosa, I think that will help.”

Davey quietly steps into the bedroom, adjusting his grip on the accessories as he spares a brief second to watch Theo.

They’re standing at the foot of the bed, the heel of one hand pressed to their forehead as they gaze absently towards the open bathroom doors. Davey knows that pose — it’s their thinking pose, when they’re trying to retrace their steps between all the various locations. The midmorning light filters in through the bay windows, giving them a hazy white glow that he could spend hours looking at.

Or, more appropriately, the rest of his life.

They’re also so distracted that they don’t notice as he steps up behind them and slides the first of the pins into place in Theo’s artfully messy bun.

Theo lets out a startled yelp and jumps several inches before whipping around to see just who would dare. “Davey Jane,” they gasp, slapping a hand to their chest as their shoulders heave with the after effects of their shock. “Are you trying to kill me?”

“Just giving you a hand,” he replies with a grin and offers over the remaining hair pins.

Their expression immediately softens as a blush creeps up their neck. “You’re ruining the surprise,” they mutter, though they turn their back to let Davey arrange the remaining pins.

“I promise I’ll look just as gobsmacked on the second look as I am on the first,” he teases. He brushes aside a loose lock of hair to place a kiss on the spot of skin just above the collar of their jacket.

Theo catches onto Davey’s hand before it can fully pull away. “You just couldn’t help yourself could you?”

“You know I’m helpless about you in general.”

They laugh, taking his fingers and pressing a kiss to his knuckles. “You couldn’t even wait another forty minutes?”

“We’ve been separated all morning, I am experiencing Theo deficiency.” He wraps his other arm around their waist and bends over to press his cheek against the side of their head. “I need to recharge.”

“You need to fix your tie is what you need to do,” they chide, though they are content enough to lean back into his embrace.

“Merril gave me five minutes, I’m going to take it for all its worth.”

Theo gives a dramatic sigh, one they probably learned from him, and wiggle around in the circle of his arms to face him. They take his tie in their nimble fingers and expertly fix it into a perfect Onassis knot. “You don’t even have your waistcoat.”

“Well, now you get to be properly impressed on the second first looks,” he says. The tips of his fingers land lightly on Theo’s jaw, tilting their face up towards his. “Kerri did a nice job with your hair.”

“Yes and you better not mess it up for I’ll be short one husband before the ceremony even begins.”

Davey can’t stop grinning at that. “Wouldn’t dream of it,” he says, and leans down to kiss them properly.

He doesn’t even notice that someone else has entered the room until there is a loud cough from behind him and someone wrapping their knuckles against the door to the bedroom part of the suite.

“Your five minutes is up,” Sol says as Merril brushes past her with two glasses of orange juice and a bottle of champagne. “Now get your ass back to your ready room, mister.”

“Aw, but it’s my wedding day!” Davey complains, trying to snatch one of the half-made mimosas from Merril’s hand. “Meanie.”

“I’m not above dragging you out by the scruff of your neck,” she warns.

Reluctantly, Davey releases Theo and holds out his hands. “And risk all the nice work Theo did on my tie? I don’t think so.”

Sol has Davey’s waistcoat and jacket draped over one arm, and probably the cufflinks squirreled away in a pocket somewhere. A ‘just in case’ measure, if he had wandered off again.

He leans in to steal one more kiss from Theo before hurrying back to Sol’s side. “Alright, my noble wrangler. After you.”

She’s not having any of that and spins him around before shoving him out the door to the suite — Theo’s laughter chasing after.
