May I ask you what is wrong with having a preference? I'm sure you have one? Weather it be a personality trait, physical trait, eye color, ect.
Okay, I am going to actually respond to this one, since you seem a little more reasonable/at least less confrontational, and as much as I like gifs, I guess I’ll show that I can ~use my werds~ tooHere’s the thing: there is no such thing as having a “personal preference” that is completely divorced from patriarchal/oppressive constructs of beauty. Every single one of us has been heavily heavily influenced by a lifetime of society telling us what to find attractive (through media, “health” discourse, etc.). Sexual fetishization and objectification masquerading as “personal preference” is a particularly insidious way of reproducing and reinforcing oppression.
Everybody, but particularly people with the power to oppress (white people, men, masculine people sometimes), has to be interrogative of their “personal preferences.” In this case, kingheroin, as a white person with a “weird obsession with Asian girls” is claiming the bodies of Asian women for her own sexual consumption. It flattens us, it says all “Asian girls” are the same, and that we’re all sexual objects for white people to use. kingheroin cannot claim a harmless preference for Asian girls, because her attraction to us is inextricable from a violent history and culture of the fetishization of Asian women by white people.
I am currently working very hard to unlearn my own “preferences,” because I have finally realized they have come from a place of internalized racism and fucked up oppressive ideologies. It is our responsibility as queer people to not oppress each other, and to not let our own “preferences” come before that.
