Some people who re-blogged my post about the "#FuckPlanB" hash tag on Twitter kinda took me to task because of the messenger. The link above is the message that I think Amanda Fucking Palmer was trying to send. The messenger may not be trustworthy to some people, but the message was what was important. This to me is kinda like if a known thief came to you screaming that your house was on fire. Do you ignore the message simply because of the messenger? If so, how would you feel if you later found your house burned to the ground?
I don't want to be one of these people this woman talks about in the blog linked above. I've lived my entire life trying to make other people happy. I've only just realized that I can't truly make anyone happy if I'm not happy myself, particularly if the person were completely unselfish and truly loved me unconditionally. They should also want me to be happy and fulfilled.
So, I'm going to make a true attempt to attain my dreams. I'm going to try to grasp the brass ring. I'm going to put in the work that is necessary to make this happen, even if it means publishing my crappy art and stories myself. I have something worthwhile to say; I have a story to tell; Damn it, I'm going to tell that story if it kills me (because if I don't tell it, that will also kill me).
This is the core, the heart, of the message AFP was trying to convey: Fuck Plan B.
