It's Been A While
It's cool to see some people still following/just now following FYG. Unfortunately, most of the staff is off island and we've been off island for quite a while now. You know, college, life, babies, drugs, jail time, things like that. But we'll be back some day; the love for the island never stops. In the mean time, feel free to submit! Or if you're living on island and would like to contribute regularly, hit us up.
Speechless
This site makes me cry, but no worries it's tears of joy. I am proud to be born and raised in Guam and to be Chamoru. Looking at the pictures and videos I could not stop smiling. I miss home so much and thanks to you guys I'm reminded of how beautiful our island is.

Our team is composed of -- either more or less -- people who have left or are about to leave home at some point due to various reasons. Yes, FYG is about show casing everything amazing about Guam, but perhaps it is a little bit more than that. Perhaps it explores the collective memory which today's society can now easily access regardless of location.
It is this sense of having shared experiences rather than isolated ones despite the fact that we've never met most of our followers. That's probably one of the most exciting things about this: sometimes people would reblog and add something like, "Oh! I gotta go here when I get back!" It brings about this sense of rediscovery.
And these experiences, imprints, or whatever you may call them -- these bits and pieces of Guam are a part of you as much as it is a part of the rest of us.

It's been less than a week since FYeahGuam's been up and it's good to see people following, responding to the photos, liking, reblogging, and all that good shit. We definitely hope FYG will continue to grow in content and vision (which isn't exactly clear in scope just yet). Whatever FYG ultimately ends up being, we'll always be about our Home -- and that includes you, the Follower, too. With that being said, feel free to submit your angle on what Home looks like.
Also, if you would like to be a steady contributor to the site, ring us a message. We're mostly chill people; we won't bite ;D.
