Just an FYI about the Everyday Feminism "Good Fatty" article: Kitty, the author, specifically asked us to use those pictures as the feature images with the article. And in the piece, she specifically lines out how becoming involved with pornography was a way for her to reclaim her sexuality. I guess as editor, I'm not sure whether or not to change it, then. I totally get the criticism – AND is it my right to tell the author that she can't self-express in that way? Gah. I dunno what to do!
Personally I think the photographs directly challenge the stereotypes by showing how ridiculous they are. I understand where the original person critiquing it came from but I also think that fat people have the right to challenge the good fatty / bad fatty dichotomy how they want. Sometimes this means creating a satirical embodiment of how mainstream rhetoric about fat people frames us.
As you said, Kitty wanted this photos included and she should have the autonomy to embody fatness how she wants. I don’t think she’s reinforcing negative beliefs about fatness but pushing back against the narratives that harm us.
